Heh, I remember getting the Lord Sword, and being a bit too creative with trying to find out what the secret was: Equipped it on a fighter, renamed him "Lord", and spent two days farming the Lord's Grave, hoping to trigger an event (was thinking maybe a boss encounter with the Lord's undead wife) before reading what it actually did in the comments section.
