Correction - if you click on where it says, "Welcome ___" you gain access to the profile and can delete it. But it definitely isn't allowing me to proceed with no advertising, and the tutorial which I MUST do turns on the newspaper ads which despite turning off, it acts like I have it still on.
Nothing works properly on this game: you can't save options (such as muting sound effects or music) you can't save setting to turn off promotion, you can't restart your game (such as when you've tried to turn off promotion and now can't)... it's a complete mess. You can't even set up a second profile and it keeps remembering you and loading the f'ed up game you can't make changes to when you return to the game!
