another strategy I found worked on maps that are open is to build your walls like an inverted V, that way, they run into the middle and spread out their attack. This lets you 1. attack from multiple angles and 2. spread out the attacks so the enemy isn't focusing down one wall. They tend to spread out and shoot all the walls at once, which fails. Add in level 3 infantry and this should get you through any map.
The french earthworks is bugged, but in order to build it after buying the upgrade, just click on your existing level 2 walls and upgrade manually. HTH.
In order to allow the 2nd line of cannons to not be useless, place an empty gap between your first row and the 2nd, that way, the 2nd row won't start firing until the first is finished its shot. This makes sure they don't target the same (dead) troops. Sorry if my explaination is confusing, just remember, if you have two rows of cannons, place 1 empty space between them. It makes them more efficient.
As other comments mention, a lot of unit descriptions don't match up with that they do - for instance all the cannons seem to do exactly the same thing.
Great game in terms of gameplay, but could use some polish to make it more friendly for the user. It lacks little details like being able to toggle the speed, a clear and readable font, bigger everything so you can play without squinting, and being able to click and drag to make a bunch of the same building.
meh, great presentation and concept, but terrible gameplay mechanics. Seriously, they perfected platforming games 20 years ago, so why does this feel so awkward?
hint: for the one level where you have 3 ducks that you click and move around seemingly randomly, it would help to remember the saying "have all your ducks in a row." ;)
