Thanks, Moly! I remember doing the AS2 version of this series about three years ago, and was satisfied with the final results, but not with the fact that it was in AS2. Your tutorials really helped me make the jump.
Great series. I thank you, Moly.
One question, though. When my ship dies via crashing into an enemy, I get an error message a "reference to a null object" when it's going through the code that removes all enemies from the screen. This ONLY happens when I die from crashing. Anyone have any idea about that?
Amazing game. I remember playing this back when it first came out. Say what you will, as far as I'm concerned, pixel-based Flash games started really taking off with this one.
@BrooksYa: That is exactly what I mean. It's not really an amazing game, but somehow it grows on you, and you can't stop playing it. Kinda like that little dude you pick up after room 9.
This is definitely a "love it or hate it" game. I didn't care for it at first, but if you can get into it, it definitely grows on you. Big fan of the Medals on Newgrounds. Always up for unlocking new achievements. :D
Brilliant game. Being a programmer, I can definitely appreciate the style of gameplay. But I seriously think there should be an achievement for completing the game with only a minimum number of moves - the heart of true programming really is "less is more." Great game, nonetheless. :D
Very cool game. I definitely like the pixelated look and Daniel Baranowsky's music is always enjoyable. Also, from what I can make out of them, the invader designs (or whatever they are) look really cool.
Am I the only one who see a Thomas Anderson outrunning a Matrix-construct reenactment of the machine wars?
And to think, all this time, I've been doing it the hard way. I wish I'd found this tutorial long ago - would've saved so much time and money. Great series!
