There is an issue with the game locking a player out if the screen is not in focus. I am working on why this happens, since it seems to be more frequent here on Kong.
Until I find a solution, a workaround is to reload the tab and use "Return" at the first menu, then enter your character name (you can leave the email and password blank since that feature is disabled for now). This will load where you last saved the game.
It's really annoying, I know. I'm sorry. Once I get it fixed I will update.
