"unapologetically hard" seems like an overstatement; I'm usually not even very good at these sort of games but I was pretty easy. We'll see what the future games are like though. I loved the attention to detail, how there's a different message for just about every action, instead of a basic, "You can't do that." Looking forward to the rest.
It's a pretty good, but there's a few flaws that keep it from being great. I really hate mouse control in an arena shooter like this, because if you accidentally move your mouse outside the frame, you're stuck in place. Some of the hitboxes are way, way too big--I think it's mostly on collisions with enemy ships, but I've been hit by those pointed missiles that turrets shoot without even touching them. It's also very annoying to get 'overheat' popups when you're trying to dodge towards the bottom of the screen. Also, the basic ship's overdrive makes it very difficult to see incoming projectiles. Solid game on the whole, just nothing exceptional.
It amazes me that a game that's so well done can neglect really basic things. You NEED a pause button. You NEED a mute button. And given it's a game with many different types of attacks that all look different, and the character's hitbox is ambiguous, it would be really nice to have some visual feedback when you're getting hit.
A tepid, uninspired arena shooter whose lack of challenge is almost insulting, and the fact that it's a limited version IS insulting. To top it all off, if there's a mute button, I couldn't find it.
This really goes to show that a stylish presentation can make even a shallow concept enjoyable. The fact that its pretty much a series of die rolls past a certain point keeps it from being anything exceptional, but I don't think it's trying to be exceptional; it's simple, it's fun, and so I say, good job.
Unquestionably the best flash shooter I've played. Takes the already-excellent original game and improved on it tenfold. I still find it a little easy (as of this writing, beaten without losing a life on intense my first try, not Frantic yet.), but the bottom line is that it's enjoyable to a level that flash games rarely achieve. 5/5, fav'd.
How the heck does the keyboard layout not make sense? Aside from the extra button, it's an NES controller. Re-inventing the wheel? Please. Classic platformers have ALWAYS had a seperate jump button. This game is not trying to be unique, it's trying to be like an old school platformer.
One thing that really confuses me about the design though. You've made it very obvious that you're sensitive to negative feedback and want people to try and appreciate it as a difficult game. Yet the VERY FIRST ROOM has a segment where if you don't jump perfectly and hit the vine instead of the platform, you have to scramble over the spikes, kill the huge monster, and jump onto the platform before it disappears or you lose a life. This is the sort of crap that turns people off the game. Ease into the nasty parts, don't frontload them.
Sound effects need to be muted along with the music--I didn't even want to mute the music, I wanted to mute that piercing screech I got when I moused over buttons. Price of the "Extra money" upgrades is listed as $200 for every upgrade, when it scales up like everything else.
A good start, if nothing exceptional. Some of the enemies' shots are very difficult to see against the background. You may as well just do away with the regen ability and restore health between levels (or allow buying it), because most of the time there's nothing stopping the player from sitting with one enemy left and regenning between dodging. Not to mention you don't have time to sit still during a full level, so its worthless otherwise.
Has a lot going for it, but has a few problems too. It's very difficult to see some of the darker enemy ships against the background, as well as the faint white projectiles some of them shoot. The pause code resumes the game automatically when the player returns to the tab, which is really inconvenient for multitasking, and while controls work, pausing doesn't until the game window is clicked on. The balancing job is awful--All but 1 of the bosses died the minute they appeared on the screen, and any need for money was gone after getting a 3 million pickup early in the game. It was enjoyable though, and for the most part very well made.
Between the radical difference in style between the games you've uploaded, the fact that nothing else you've uploaded is written in kanji, and the fact that half your games have different people's names on them as well as you not even getting the title right, I'm feeling pretty confident flagging this as stolen.
