Usually the boss will go rampage on you (and run forward) before you die, but on a boss day you can easily die to an off screen boss without ever hitting him with a sheriff or an impact mod if you or your minions use a bowgun.
sheriff is not required to have a boss off screen. They spawn off screen and the RNG determines how far they walk before stopping. ever notice how your minions will aim at a boss before he shows up? thats because he is there, just off screen and you have to wait for him to walk forward. if he gets shot (bowgun accident) he will stop and put up his shield while still off screen, and then kill you.
Bosses killing you from off screen on HC is ridiculous. Had a great HC game going, day 47 a boss off screen kills me. Its enough to make me want to stop playing the game. All i need are 2 HC medals for game completion, but im not sure if the frustration is worth it.
Day 66 HC. Sheriff (me), Militia (assault rifle), Noble (shotgun), Duelist (revolver). Noble had poor aiming, but +45% damage and accuracy makes up for lack of Doc Holiday. Duelist owns with revolver, make sure to put a lvl2 or better reload in though. Militia never trained Burst and was a drag on me the whole time, probably should have dismissed him, but he still killed his share. I reforged my shotgun to MK9 on day 66, but didnt realize that I lacked the weapon skill for it. All i could do was throw 6 lvl15 grenades before watching my best HC attempt die in front of my eyes.
to anyone experiencing difficulty: Buy starting cash with all of your war mart credits. Nothing else. you earn war mart credits with level score, and level score uses leftover money as a multiplier, so build 4 tesla towers, and stop spending.
Completely agree with GrizBe, i can set up a defense with just the original towers on map 10, with just starting money, make no changes during the level, and not lose a life. game has a lot of variety built in, but no incentive to use it. Front line 1 was considerably more difficult, and because of that, more fun, IMHO.
you can scroll screen -- use wasd for screen move, arrows for walking around planets. Or just read the instructions, ya know, before complaining about a feature.
hmm... i have 9 saw blades in two rows, 14 top blasters, 5 proximity mines, 14 bouncy pads, and 310 lvls in each turtle tube. after a half hour i only have 1.5 million combo and 75% of my turtles are bouncing straight up and down against the right wall.
wow, very much a love it or hate it game by reading the comments. Personally i thought the game was not all that inventive outside of the controls. However, I really like the controls! i hate dieing in platformers because i didn't lift up on one button before pressing another, or some other crap like that. I thought the controls were very intuitive and easy to use. Although some of the later lvls do get very challenging, thats the point right? i mean if you dont want to be challenged go play minesweeper.
controls suck, you cant see far enough ahead to plan for anything, and in most levels if you miss a bomb, you die. so lets see... you cant control yourself well, you cant plan, and one mistake kills you? its like epic coaster if each piece of track was tiny.
@johnson8642 no, you just have to go back to menu, select unlockables, and chose hypermode. It will reset your level progress so you can start over in triple speed.
just because someone submits a level, doesn't mean it should be included. For example, level 16 is poorly designed. Did you even play all the levels that were submitted yourself?
