First decent game to be featured with badges and a card by Kongregate in months.I have been playing this game on and off since it was first posted and never thought it would be featured. The thing I most want,Urbz ;),is a graphic/quality toggle...the main thing that keeps me from scoring higher is how long I can run a particular instance of flash player before it locks up or crashes,I kept one running for like 4.5 days real time once...yeah...that's basically what ends a good run eh:flashplayer gets clogged on all the bullet marks and body bits...after a long time anyhoo....toodles.
Being that the top armor on tank in general and the Sherman in particular is very thin in comparison to front and sides,I can see where there are vulnerable to air attack from small auto cannon. But still one or two shots(one shot in the case I mentioned)would have to be a one in a million shot...and as for near misses that do area damage to soft targets...this would only scratch the paint on a tank at best..even an explosive 30mm round ..nah..not enough juice...not if it misses and explodes nearby..needs to be dead on target.
@Ohbaby -
I debated for sometime whether the airstrike's attack(scatterbomb as you call them)were some kind of cluster bomb or lots of lil rockets hitting or what...and seeing Urbz's penchant for history,I have reasoned it thusly:
There were no cluster-bombs(a large cannister dispersing many many small submunitions)as we know them in the summer of '44(which is when this takes place)There were parcels of rockets but these were almost always vehicle mounted or towed(ground based)The Germans did have rockets on some airplanes but these were for use against bombers....so..I think the airstrike is a generic representaion of a Ju-88 Stuka (or possibly a 109 or 190)using a combination of it's small auto cannon(s),machine guns and possibly small bombs.
The Stuka would be most appropriate given the application but they were almost wiped out by this time frame...in fact German airsupport at this point would be pretty darn thin.
more:
I see and feel the rebalancing of your game but,
German landser accuracy:
after the 10th-ish wave the soldaten get sickly accurate, too much so I think...I am seeing normal Wehrmacht guys(all grey gear)and even volkssturm/grenadier(green pseudo-camo)shoot 1st round hits at guys in a trench with a bunker over it,past three layers of sandbags and past/through 2 tanks. And on a regular basis too...where as before this almost never happened.Snipers and some elite SS division type troops I could see where this might make sense, even fallschirmjagers, but normal ordinary troops?>nope ;)
Over all I like how the game is slightly harder(I reset from 3 star/Lt General to run through the ranks again to see the difference)but I think you may have gone a bit to far in the respects I have mentioned above.
Be well.
Further about tanks being damaged:
Grenades?:please heh,in order for a grenade to hurt qa tank at all it would have to be right over the engine vents on the rear deck or in the tail pipe,I think you should seriously rethink how tanks are damaged by grenades.Even in these most vulnerable spots,a normal infantry man's grenade damaging a tank is a very iffy proposition.
Artillery damaging tanks:
Tanks and thier armor, even 2nd generation WWII tanks of the types deployed in your game are specifically designed to be proof againt arty shrapnel and overpressure...that being said the shear explosive force of a large arty round hitting a tank directly on top would utterly obliterate it,but a miss, even a very close miss would leave it almost undamaged. At worst we might see some track damage or radio mast/antenna blown off. This also needs rethinking in my opinion.

Other criticisms:
Airstrikes damaging tanks:in point of fact the largest weapons mounted by German ground attack aircraft was 50mm,this would mess up a tank severely, particularly a sherman m3,but in practice mostly after D-day it was me-109's and fw-190's;different destroyer(Luftwaffe designation for anti-bomber and ground attack equipped fighters) verions of the 109 mounted 1,2 and 3 20mm's plus a few 14.5mm machineguns, and some destroyer versions of the fw-190 mounted a few different combinations of 30mm,20mm,and 14.5mm(the heaviest was 1 30mm,2 20mm and 2 14.5mm)...I think my basic point is this:Tanks are especially vulnerable from above and behind, the Sherman was a weak tank..but,I have seen one close airial support shot hit and destroy one of my tanks..utterly..just one shot..this is kind of ridiculous.

Thanks for the update Urbz, glad you didn't imp hand to hand combat,it wasn't needed and would just clutter the game up that already has too many body parts flying and such.
STILL SOME BUGS,flamethrower guys sometimes just dissapear when they should explode, both allied and axis;pause works now on most things(flying grenades, artillery strikes etc)but still does not work fully for normal soldiers(axis only)sometimes they still fire off rounds well after the pause button has been hit. This needs to work,we are human and have to stop once in a while..for as long as each game lasts, one cannot sit and stare at it for the whole duration without some afk.

Waiting sooooo looooonnng for the API Urbz...*Long White Beard*.
Could give a poo about hand to hand combat..not needed imo.
Just would like the API for badgers(possibly) and high scores n such.Want to see how my high scores compare to others basically.
BUG: just got my 22nd ribbon and it is the start of a new 8th row of 3 ribbons each, looks like 2nd row from the bottom and it does not display any info for it....blank..wonder what it is...tra la de da la la...la..
Still need a better system for looking at all of one's troops...for example several guys bunched in a bunker..they overlap and it is impossible to look at some of them..I suggest a next soldier button of some sort.
Artillery will not blow up/shred/destroy guys who are on fire...this is a mistake...shrapnel doesn't care if you are on fire or not.
I am pretty sure I saw a grenade damage barbed wire...bombs and arty I can see damaging wire but grenades?Nah..tiny fragments and not much overpressure...I saw an exercise where a grenade was detonated on top of a guys head who was wearing an old style steel helmet to demonstrate it's effectiveness. Also I might add grenade maybe should be allowed to be thrown from bunkers, there are specific defensive grenades which are so heavy one cannot throw them outside thier damage radius..designed to be used from defensive works or around corners and such..and offensive grenades which are less powerful and can be thrown relatively far in comparison.
Also...why does being in a bunker lower rate of fire? This makes no sense to me...vision and noticing a target I can see..but once a target is noticed nothing about a bunker should slow up trigger pulling.
Urbz,
Thanks a lot for the new updates,I really appreciate it.
The game is really great,it just needed a good deal of tweaking.
Thanks again for the continued work on it.
MEDICS!fixy...please? ;)
Raising my rating appropriately.
I kind of feel like someone at Kongregate is indulging thier BF/GF,weed Dealer or slow child when I see games like this featured often with cards and badges and much worthier games are left out in the cold....ok ok..something positive:
Not quite as bad as Achilles ;)
All that being said,I still play this game regularly because it is so good.
I write and criticize because I dearly want it to be better.
Untill many of the grosser bugs/defects are fixed though..my rating must remain 1/5...I really want to give this game the 5 it deserves too...but you vex me...vex vex vex.
ction/unit/weapon/construct buttons on the left and right sides,Tip/Message Banner at the top,and TacPoint Bank marker all obscure action and looking at units..why leave this in the way?
When multi-units are located very near to each other it is well nigh impossible to look at some units as they obscure each other,a select next soldier button would be awesome.
I could go on and on here but why?
All you have done in the last week is add a few new "tips"which obscure action and aren't all that amusing or informative. They are a lame substitue for actual instruction/info.
While it is highly annoying,I sadly expect this is not the last, though it is the 1st,time I will see "sandbox" be synonymous with "riddled with bugs and lacking any substantial documentation"...lazy,sloppy.
