I don't quite get the point. I tried both endings. But if I had to decide between 3.7% survival chance or certain death with an A.I. ... If it were another human, the choice would be harder. Other than that, a very nice text adventure game, nice hints given, very lovely 'characters'. A bit too short, maybe. :)
How to get to Level 50 hardcore in 3 hours: Endurance Warrior with big shield in the middle front. Cleric with high endurance next to it, used for healing. Rogue with strength, dexterity and endurance on front or in boss fights the back, mainly using sneak attack and drain health. A Mage with high intelligence, power regeneration and lethality, using mainly lightning and freeze. Don't bother with too many fights after level 30, use scrolls of deception to sneak to the exit. Kill a few leaders for equipment, but you should be able without. :)
What I like: Another concept to solve every puzzle. Lovely characters (kinda). A clear objective. What I don't like: No explanations whatsoever. Some mechanism are really hard to understand and so you just get stuck at some point without actually being stuck, just because you didn't find that click, that timing or that spot you needed to be in. Maybe add some "hint" button or give a one-line explanation of the rules for each puzzle, rather than, misleading (?), symbols. Otherwise, nicely done.
This game is almost racist - or sarcastic. E.g. China has lowest population. Russia has almost exclusively soldiers in their towns. Greenland only has huts and no cities.
Also, here's the news report: "150 people died in a zombie attack, the city was completely destroyed, Las Vegas lies in smoking ruins - also 6 cars were destroyed!"
While it is fun to play I would like to see more results of proper background research. Unless it is sarcasm, then I just missed it. ^^
The only thing I don't like in Puzzle Games is the element of reaction. It wasn't over-emphasized, but it can ruin an otherwise beautiful game for people with bad reflexes (or mouse control). :)
Love the situation where 2 gaps are on the left and next round it's both on the far right... Or on both sides and next round is both in the middle. Not really fair. :(
Why do programmers still use z/y for controls? It's just annoying for German keybords and there really are more than enough key pairs on the keyboard. Also using WASD with X and Y right underneath only causes cramps in my fingers. why not M and N or K and L?
The controls are glitchy because of an interference of the 'S' key pressed with multiple arrows simultaneously. Changing controls to keys that don't interfere wit each other would be beneficial. The climbing proceduere is tedious and the big wall climb is way too long / difficult with these controls. The furnace is alright, no complaints there. A nice idea for new abilities. It's the style that lets you run through the same areas more than once, when you gather new abilities in corners instead of on the way. Not a big fan, I have to say. Graphics are cute, story completely missing. So should be 3/5, but I give it 5/5. Why? 'cause I want a sequel. :)
Needs a mute button. Needs a better ending. Checkpoints not necessary, but a level select menu would be much appreciated. A more sophisticated storyline will help to stick through to the end. I played it months ago, quit halfway through, and finished it now because of the badge. Very good concept, looking forward to a sequel.
Very nice game. Decent Artwork, atmospheric music, a bit of creepy - good concept, if not too straight forward. Nothing that really would be challenging, like a riddle, or different paths to solve things or end dialogs or the story. Although the bugs with the letters and missing dialog are just annoying, the spelling errors are even worse and there are more the further you get towards the end. The clockparts twinkle in succession which makes it easy to find them, since all you have to do is to wait. The method to copy the code from the radio is a bit confusing as well, as I thought the game bugged, when I 'lost' my paper after clicking on the radio. This game needs some polishing and can be expanded into a greater version, there is definitely potential. Try fixing the spelling errors and bugs. :)
She could have at least helped the red goblin out of the tree on her way back. Also, why can't I take a shovel or rake with me into THAT forest, for self-defense? :)
A beautiful adventure! Some obstacles need to be tackled several times and it is always possible to get blown backwards, but in the end you will reach your goal. Diversity at its work, a hint of evolutionary forces and even a social comment, you can become, whatever you like, if you work for it. This game has character and a very neat style. Keep the good work up!
A lot of people seem to complain about the small grid and the luck based factor. As Scoundrel you don't have these problems which are indeed pressing as Warrior. Trophies are not necessary to win the game - storywise. It is fairly reasonable to win with only a couple of items from the trophy shop, e.g. 2x power for scoundrel, randomizing dice for warriors. I must say, I love this game for its good story, nice graphics, simple battle system and balanced skills. Very good work and please send me a shout if ever a second part turns up. :)
The game is great. The story is a bit undeveloped, I would like to have some messages the engineer left for himself, like the hints for the codes, just flashing in the dark. I like the idea of light-fearing ghosts and light-attracted robots. Also the idea to lure the robots into the void is well done. Controls are easy to handle and not glitchy as in many other games. It is a bit confusing that moving platforms are sometimes just away. Maybe a symbol at the edge would be helpful, so you don't waste seconds of light just to see if a platform is arriving or not. I really like how you can abuse fireballs and the sparks from the saw blades to save flame time. This game gets 5 stars from me. I hope there will be updates, badges and maybe a sequel. :)
I would like to see some secrets, possibly rewarded by coins. Like, 2 coins per tree/lamp, 50 coins for a 5 bamboo-tree-combo or a few extra-coins for specific/random lamps or trees in a level. Other possibilities could be secret combos like 2 zomblings, 1 lankie, 1 goliath = 20 coins. My favorite secret would be some 50 coins for killing a berserker, since it is a quite rare event. Another point could be the upgrade of the gold scroll to attract scrolls and coins instead of coins alone. (If anyone wonders: I tried all of those "secrets", apart from a lot of points for the berserkers (~25) there is nothing hidden in this game; yet.)
I'ld like to make the purpose, to increase the attractiveness of tournaments, to give out a random card for participation or change the cards each week. I have about 20 copies of the same card i cannot use and tornaments start to become to much routine. Personally I think, the tournaments are a much more interesting way to obtain cards than buying the packs and the price is somewhat comparable.
The undeveloped story has been replaced by an unique one on the Xbox One version. Hope you enjoy it: http://candleman.me
