I'm pretty sure this is based on Robot Battle, a game in which all you do is program the robot AI and watch them fight each other. Taking the AI out of the players hands ruins the game.
The game is fun enough. I thought it was going to be annoying, but it's not. The only thing I don't like is that the success noise sounds like a failure noise to me.
