Some lagging here, still decided to give it a shot. Can become somewhat addictive first, but there are lots of major flaws killing most of the fun in the long run. No bonus WHATSOEVER for being the star player? Bummer. Negative team rating despite several assists? Bugged. Boots and drink sponsorships that provide you with no free stuff at all? Yeah right. Skills feel like they have little to no effect most of the time - with a free kicks skill of 32 set pieces appear as frequently as they did without any skill investment. The game also becomes VERY tedious as your star rating gets higher. I could go on and on, but well, as it is, I'm not even going to try the 'bigger brother'.
Nice concept. Wish you could skip the first two rounds later in the game, as they become pointless. Balancing needs improvement - I ended up with a skill set where it becomes impossible to complete the hard bagde in time and this should never be the case. There are also a few bugs that prevent you from cancelling selected attacks or allow you to 'give up' by pressing 'L' while selecting new skills at the Magic Master.
All those effects after each level - counting up gold & xp, waiting for golden treasure chest roulette, counting up mission bar progress, award skill points with rotating stars and everything... 1/3 of the time required to complete the game is probably just waiting for interface animations
Fun game, original story, good music. Needs an endless mode and badges. And the missile launcher is very weak, might want to double its damage output or add splash damage. Looking forward to improvements - or part 2 :)
Tedious. Especially the purple carnivorous plant thing where you have to type four keys to proceed is fairly annoying and really breaks the flow of the game.
I really like the vikings theme, the graphics, the music and army games in general... but: After unlocking all units in the game (which happens pretty early) it turns into one big grindfest until you're ready to fight the frost giant. If at least different strategies were needed to capture certain islands. But then again, there is not much variation in the units either - no glass cannons, healers, splash damage units. Same goes for special attacks and boat attacks, even the cooldowns of these attacks are more or less the same. Upgrading islands just to increase tax income is also pretty bland (and rarely pays off after the second upgrade) - I'd prefer something like upgrading an island increases a certain unit's stats, e.g. each upgrade of the top left island increases the basic warriors strength by 1 etc.. Really hoping for an improved Frozen Islands 2.
Overall fun game and I like the minimalism in the style of Asteroids :) Mouse controls can be very annoying when trying to maneuver near the border, though. Also, the collision box of the ship is too large for a bullet hell, should be just 1 pixel at the center.
What helped me winning the 4th race (besides stabbing everyone): Using taunt at the start, regularly using sprints to stab the leading competitors first and always donate, when officials are present and the weather is fine.
So Health and Recover are pretty useless upgrades, right? Because if you get hit by anything, the counter resets. Also would have been nice to hide the sword aim thingy for foxes once you have the fox ears. Anyway, still a fun game with nice graphics and cool music.
Finally got it. Gameplay is definitely not my cup of tea, but to each his/her own. A few things that really need to be improved: The fade animations are way to slow and making mouse controls mandatory in an otherwise keyboard only game is really a bad design choice. Also might want to add an option to disable those annoying text pop-ups and a quick help to explain the games.
