This game really suffers from the random positioning of units.In many battles you just have to hope that the RNG doesn't screw you and place your weak units in front.
As it stands the game is just too easy.There is no point in using your melee attack since you can just wait and kill all enemies from a distance with magic.And even if there was a point in close combat it is just very easy to attack-move-attack-move and repeat,since moving in any direction for even an inch makes the enemies miss 100% of the time.
I would recommend implementing a simple mana system where you have a set amount of mana and you have to replenish it at a shop,or at any other set point(basically you want to stop the player from spamming the magic attacks).Also,i would recommend making the melee combat more challenging,by increasing the hit range most enemies have and thus giving the player a bigger incentive to use the block mechanic.
Overall this is a good game,and it was worth my time i believe,but after a while it became repetitive because there was no challenge there for me.
6 years later,still updating the game,still responding to comments daily,still being active,always helping when people need help(yes,even with savefile losses)
I could say thank you for being the most awesome of developers a million times and it still wouldn't be enough.
I've noticed that after a ranged monster starts the animation to hit you(ex.the archer pulling back the string) it will STILL shoot the projectile even if you kill it and it dissapears from the screen.

The locations of the secrets for those that have trouble finding them are:
1st secret:In the vents while having them on the 1st layout go to the screen just below the room with the buttons to activate the lights.On the left side of the vent there is a somewhat torn part.Use the pickaxe on it to uncover a room with the secret painted on the wall.
2nd secret:On the rubik's cube temple go as left as you can.On the right wall there is a brick with some markings on it.Click on it to find the secret.
3rd secret:To find this secret go to the fifth floating column.Click on its underside to find the secret.
4th secret:Right before you enter the room where you input the code,there is a small block shaped thing on the right wall near the ladder.Use the pickaxe on it to uncover the fourth secret.

Alright,i just beat the game and this is the way i believe you have to do it:First you kill 2 bats to level up,then kill a snake and quickly grab a potion to become immune to poison.Floors 2-3 should be just for leveling up as much as you can.Before ascending/descending to Floor 4(Boss) you must have on you the God-killing dagger(1 of the 3 commonly found weapons) and also make sure you are 2 or less health from max(there are 2 medkits right at the start of floor 4).If you can grab a costume before entering floor 4 so you won't have to loose 2 health to kill 1 of the 3 shamans.Gold is used just for score,so you don't have to get any of it.
