Played the game now for a while (without any kreds spend!). Yes - the time doubles each time to wait for new energy - but only until a few hours. Then the timer resets. And in later lvls you get a lot of new yellow dices if you pass them at the end. Which you can spend in blue dices to improve your car or get a lot of new energy. Would it be more fun, if there are less time to wait for new energy? Definitely! But it is possible to play the game without spending any kreds.
You can combine all chests too. ;-)
@RompeBuche: Yes, with money it's more fun - coz you can play the game much faster. But you can play it without, too. You need more time and patience, but it works.

Love the game - the publisher made a few similar ones - I played them on other websites ("Tropical Merge" & "Fairyland: Merge & Magic").
There are a lot to discover in the game - depending on your level. And a few events which came from time to time. One of my favs is the kraken event. @CleverApps: Would be nice, if one could get a few features with adds - like on the other websites you published your games.

iirc the fastest legit times I've seen posted are somewhere around 50 secs. I believe it revolves around taking the bottom route of the skeletons using judgment, and farming in the warp area.
