if you are having trouble pushing through and not being able to get to the tower you should do this; Build 4 Ion rays and they won't be able to get near your building and since these would seek other targets it would go to the next, if you don't put any units on the field they will have less money for soldiers so they'll send one and then the Ion rays will go straight to the base :)
