SPOILERS: After all of this, I have a single question. Why was Yeow there to get involved in the case in the first place? If I'm not mistaken, he normally would be in a different town if not a different part of the world, and he normally just mirrors where Pumpkin Head is. But, this time Pumpkin Head wasn't Yeow at all, so he would have no reason to be in the area of a fake Pumpkin Head crime. Did he just happen to be in town so he stopped by? Or was it that he heard of it and so he made his way to the crime scene in keeping with his normal persona and motives of Pumpkin Head's archenemy? The later one is the best explanation I can think of, and it makes sense if we assume his normal haunts are near enough that he'd hear it in time. I have no idea as to where the smoke bomb came from, I guess it was basically a prop used to make the Pumpkin Head act more "realistic" on Phooey's end?
* Rifles through Mayor's desk * "Let's see...pie, a thing of Funyuns, newspaper, a picture of a brain, notes titled "Zombie Control Operation Part Sigma"...ooh, a letter of resignation! That's perfect for the investigation. Well, that's everything of interest in here..."
Some tips: Give Anna three status boosting equipment (Alchemist/Gaia's Gift, Blue Elephant, Red Dress) so she can pierce status res easy. The secret to the game isn't raw power, it's damage stacking. Each element is boosted by a status - Bio/Tired, Bomb+Fire/Dry, and so on. Natalie's offenses are pretty weak in 1.5, though the Steam version (2.0) has them as strong as Lance. Lance has cooldowns, so try to alternate between two attacks - Coat of Teeth and Flame Titan work well to this end. When capturing foes, your stats don't matter. What does are capturing gear Good Luck, statuses on the target, and debuffs. Most foes can be caught at 30% health with Putrid Worm and status effects. It's easier to Steal an item and run than to try to kill foes to farm it. Change your clock to: Chinese New Year, Valentines, Halloween, Easter and Christmas for the seasonal stuff. Try to capture one of each foe, many are used in forging; most can be found in Grand Gallery if you used one up.
I gotta say, having a game from one of the best Flash developers is a great way to start off 2020.
Now let's see if we can sneak in MARDEK 4 in the next few months...
There are enjoyable games. This game is enjoyable. But the quesiton is, is it worth your time? Honestly? Probably not. Go play Incursion or Kingdom Rush Frontiers or something instead if you like this style.
Once you get far enough, the strategy basically becomes "Bastion of Venom+A.Totems+Abyss of Manipulation"; BoV have 224 damage and nearly three shots a second, basically hitting 1200 DPS apiece with 3 totems. You don't need Poison or Weaken (getting more BoVs is cheaper&better), just have several BoVs with totems and that'll deal obscene damage. AoM lower Shield, Slow foes and can confuse them, making instant troops. A pair of them can easily slow-lock foes, while the BoVs annihlate everything. If you want to farm XP, do Level 10. It's the best choice as the level is straightforward and it gives ~1k XP at Diamond.
Skeletons are kind of worthless mid-game on.
It's worth noting that unlike Frontiers, KR has some balancing issues. For instance, most of the Iron/Heroic challenges are meant to be beaten with a very specific setup, with early ones having few alternative setups. Also, many of the tower abilities are not as useful as their KRF versions. There's issues like how the Teleport has a small targeting range, meaning that it may only take one or two foes off the field (unlike the Tornado which covers a huge area). On the other hand, these issues are minor and never stopped us from enjoying the game before, we just have realized how difficult it can be in retrospect. Still 5/5.
If you are having difficulty getting the Hard badge, keep in mind that 1. Alric is the best Hero for stopping foes (including the paid heroes) and 2. There is a glitch that causes Nightscales to occasionally be permanently invisible (they typically reappear a certain distance from the exits, avoiding a Cursed Treasure Ninja scenario; for some reason this seems to not activate under certain conditions in the last two levels) but don't worry, it happens rarely (and only on one or two at a time) and odds are retrying and even doing the exact same tower setup will not cause it to trigger again. Just give it another chance, and you will be victorious.
Unlike Kingdom Rush, a good set of ranged units is far better than a horde of weak crusaders. Having a bunch of Elves, Lightning Masters and Sorceresses (Slow) is far more useful and likely to sustain themselves than warriors (especially Elves). However, you still need some soldiers- they just aren't as important as your ranged troops. Warriors have a longer aggro range than ranged troops, meaning two warriors and a Healer isn't as crazy as it sounds. With the Shop, Targa becomes a a Ranged AoE that can damage Skellys and can Teleport. Not sure about which magic is best, but I used Mors since it acts as a "Reinforcements" school.
Some tips:
Pick your characters based on STATS, not skills. High T&W means a Cleric, high E means a Mage. High S&T&D is a Fighter/Archer. Pick the Exp bonus with your first level.
Paralyzing foes are hellish to win against. If you get a piece of armor with comparable stats but different resistances, hang onto it and switch it out when you fight a relevant foe. You CAN refresh the page when you are about to die, but that is kind of cowardly. Unless you have a good chance, don't bother doing most of the meetings and Pyramids and Crimes, because the debuffs you get hit by really hurt and sometimes the healing NPC doesn't spawn (I tend to find him in the desert, but it might vary). Just because you CAN fight Vorag doesn't mean you should- make your way to the warp that's by him when you can, but unless he's on the third or fourth warning there's little need to go rush to him. Use warps to save moves so Vorag doesn't come earlier than you'd like.
Every so often, in the millennia that pass by, Vorag attempts to free himself from his prison. The Guardian, seeing his attempt, recruits four heroes to stop him. They succeed. But in the aftermath that follows, the waves of monsters and wars set the world back thousands of years, with many of the great mages and blacksmiths dead. But eventually life returns to normal, and society grows. In the millennia that pass by in the growing civilization, Vorag attempts to free himself from his prison. The Guardian finds four heroes to stop him. But in the aftermath that follows, the new wave of monsters and wars set the world back thousands of years, with many of the great mages and blacksmiths dead...And so you see, while the Guardian cares, he cannot stop Vorag for good, only continue the cycle. So every time you play the game, you are not starting in a different world, but the same one, with your heroes saving the world again and again in many times, with the same foe.
Honestly the character has done so many epic things that gratuitous fanservice isn't really needed. Like, at all. She can have a...lovely looking body, but it doesn't define her. Also, III isn't going to be "bam, [area]!", because there isn't a theme of going to different areas, its a theme of the difficulty.
"You see, Labyrneath, I know you can hear me.
I know you wish for me to fail, not simply out of spite but because you want me to leave you alone. I know you will make sure I do not survive. But you see, that is the issue. I will survive. I will not give up. I will die, again and again, a hundred times, a thousand times, until I make it back and save him. My skin will be slashed, my body crushed, and my corpses will litter the lands. But I will continue, and I will keep this drop of water safe, for I have to succeed, no matter what the cost.
@lothitrocker360
Because this is a FREE WEB GAME and so they can't actually get that much profit in the long run. The Heroes give people a way to get cool stuff and help pay the dev's bills. Besides, Alric is better than just about all of them except for Dierdre (who plays an entirely different role than the rest). I mean the others have their perks, but Alric's Sand Warriors are vital for holding the line.
Haha, I like it!
