I like the game, but I would make two suggestions for improvements.
Firstly, like kale01260, I think that the high-lighting system isn't really good enough. It works, but I found that it was easy to get things mixed up - especially by about level 15, when there are so many clues and boxes. The blinking trick helps, but even that isn't perfect.
The second - and more important - change I'd make is to make clues 'disappear' when you complete them. By the later levels, I was scrolling through four pages of completed clues to find one that I needed. That got frustrating. Instead of just greying them out, have them disappear, or moved to a 'completed clues' tab or something. It'd improve the flow so much.
Still, great game. Thanks.
The game seems good so far. I am curious about something though. Some of the upgrades - like, right now, the Generation Ship in Stage 1, has an exclamation mark next to it. What does that mean? Maybe you could include a help section, that covers things like that? Also: is the year supposed to reset to 1960 when I ascend?
So, I quite like the game, but I have a problem. No-one else seems to have mentioned it, but the text isn't really suited up to my screen.
On the Upgrades screen, lots of the text 'hangs-over' the right hand edge of the screen. For example, I'm reading "Funny Pages, Newspaper Deliveriy Pro...", and "Drive through W... Car Wash profit x3".
Other text hangs off the bottom of the screen. So, I don't have any idea what the donut shop or oil companies are earning me, other than guesswork and mental arithmetic based on how much my total goes up when they cash out for me.
I'm on an iMac, using Chrome, for reference. However, the issue goes away on Safari. (Don't know about Firefox: the game won't load...)
Any way to fix this?
Pretty good game. One thing I would change is to add some sort of money/mana conversion. Several times, I've found that I've got all the towers I want, all of them fully upgraded, and I'm sitting on several thousand gold. And yet, at the same time, I'm sat there hoping to God that this enemy will drop a mana potion (or two. Please, drop two...)
Other levels, I end up with full mana and half a dozen potions, but no gold and three towers to upgrade. Having some way of turning money into mana, and vice versa would be nice. I wouldn't even mind if there was some sort of penalty for doing it (what I mean is, I wouldn't expect a 1:1 ratio when converting).
It would certainly make three-starring some of the levels easier, though.
