Athough it's premise is silly, this has decent gameplay. I would however change the way the surveyor works. Instead of (seemingly) putting a randomly placed sign, it should provide an overlay showing concentration of gold.
This is an interesting concept that is unfortunately not explained well in game. The orbids don't shoot, they collide. They will only collide with something that is in their orbit. If the enemy doesn't enter the inner orbit, don't buy orbids in the inner orbit. Upgrading an orbid makes it orbit faster, thus increasing the rate at which it can hit an enemy, thus increasing the total amount of damage it can do to any one enemy. As for the shop panel, first of all, it can be turned off by clicking on the tower again. The shop panel placement is problematic, I would center it over the tower that it's attached to, and place a close button on the shop panel. This has potential, keep up with the development.
If you are going to restrict the placement of towers, you need to visibly mark where they can be placed. There should be a need for the other towers, otherwise, might as well not have them in the game. Upgrade costs need to be specified.
I think people are missing the joke here. It's not a Tower Defense Game with RPG elements, it is a Tower Defense Game that takes place within a JRPG. The hero is out doing what ever, and you are being tasked with defending the cities.
I like that you don't need to pick up the loot in order to get it. Means if things are getting hairy I don't have to worry about loosing out on something. I'm not seeing why people are saying you need to spend money, I haven't seen anything that requires money yet.
In addition to my previous comment, set it up like a series of episodes. The first episode, the current demo content, is free. The rest of the episodes cost $1 each. That way, if someone likes the first episode well enough, they can pay $1 to get the next episode, play through it, decide if they want to pay for the next episode, and go on from there. That way people can choose how much of the game they want to play and how much they are willing to pay for it.
Very well done. I like that the story contributes to the gameplay. A lot of developers come up with some interesting story elements, only to leave them out of the gameplay completely. I would encourage you to consider making a version of the game on Kongregate that includes the full game, but allows players to purchase access to the full game via kreds. Remember, this is Kongregate, most Kongregate users are exclusive Kongregate players, and don't want to go to another site in order to play a game.
Thanks so much! We'd like to figure out a way to make this happen too. The limitation right now is actually the size of the game - the full game is 70MB, which is a bit large for an online streaming service. It was designed to be a downloadable game (with full screen mode), but we were able to make the demo at least fit within 20MB. We'll see if we can figure out a compressed Kongregate full version eventually though.
It's a nifty idea, but eventually you just end up strip mining without end. I would suggest making the walls that you build unpassable. This would require a bit more planning especially at the beginning of the game.
I don't get some of the comments I've been seeing. NormaTheNorman for instance says that helmets and hulls appear to do nothing. This is incorrect. Hit a bird with the least hull, it stops you completely. Hit a bird with the best hull, it doesn't hardly slow you down. Hit a satellite with the least helmet, it stops you completely. Hit a satellite with the best helmet, it doesn't hardly slow you down. LadyAkogare says the controls need fixing, that it goes where ever it wants. This is incorrect. It goes directly towards your cursor.
This game is decent for what it is. I would have liked a little left/right control when going down.
Very good game, but there seems to be a slight glitch. After I got the amulet, I noticed that there was one more outline to be found, in the room with the projector, the outline is on the screen. It shows it going into the book, but the book has nothing new in it. What piece is that outline supposed to go to?
One suggestion. When there is more than one objective, can we get something that tells us when we have finished any of the objectives? For instance, eat so many fish and eat so many people, couldn't tell if I had eaten enough of either until I had eaten enough of both.
Good solid concept. Needs wave display. Suggest loosing random tossing of components, instead dedicate a portion of the screen to show how many of which components you currently have on hand. Have healing be automatic as long as healing components are available with optional manual healing.
