well done game in general. tho, i agree with the sentiment that searching needs better balance. too many casualties for too little reward. but without the weapons upgrades from searching, the game becomes very frustrating very quickly. will try it again if a new version with better search survivability / results is posted.

to conserve ammo, would help to have a command: defend only with bayonet. with this you could station marines at edges of walls and have them only knife the critters that approach.

for those struggling to kill the waves, you need to weapon up to uzi asap. get the revolver asap, and it will last you til $500 for uzi. once you have uzi, save up for striker, then save for chain. use first skill pts to get lvl 1 cash & lvlUp, then lvl 2 cash & lvlUp. then lvl up your reload and accuracy for max kill efficiency per time, meaning more time to repair car at end of each wave. to stay alive, watch your health and lvl up shop med kits. score is reset when you die, so key to getting 300k pts is to stay alive through many waves.

Finally got 3m (died on a spike at 3.2m...). My tactic: Golden Gun + Tank + Missile. A perfect 45 deg + 100% will get you 750 ft in the air. When altitude starts dropping, fire the missile. Now get ready to gun. My trick was to wait 3-4 bounces, until the turtle slowed down (in middle of screen). Then shoot turtle on descent (lower half of screen). He immediately hits full speed (far right side) and altitude. With this approach, you get ~250k-300k per gun shot. 10 bullets, plus initial cannon/missile will get you to 3m. Use nukes if you need to, but at low speeds you're more likely to hit the spikes. Took 3 tries with this tactic to get 3m. Just a matter of not hitting a spike (luck). Happy cannoning!

re: all comments on pets being weak, it's true. but a lvl 23 frost scorpion is a great aid. freezes everything, including ogre lords, often within 1-2 hits. made the magma level much easier.

protector: you go back the way you came in. ie: when you go from city to a region, note that square where you start in the region. walk off the edge from there and you'll be back in the city.

couple more thoughts: -- if pet food is lying on the ground, maybe a button to allow pet to eat it, instead of having to pick up and "use"? -- seems logical that frost elementals would not be harmed by frost magic, and lava elementals not harmed by fire magic. -- would be good to have a "locker" back in town for extra items that don't fit in inventory. eg: accessories. currently, need to sell them, then buy them back if want them again later.

great work on this game. i agree with the ideas already posted re: inventory, semi-trans, etc... one bit i'll add: game currently tracks units and ground items in the same grid array. if you separate into two arrays (one for units, one for items), then units can walk over items. currently units are blocked from passing even if something tiny (eg: a shard) is in a grid cell.

to get 5 stars on all levels: 1. increase your "base max life to full" 2. finish a level with full base health On the higher levels this will give you a 20k pt bonus, which will bump up your stars. This got me 3 stars on all levels.

btw, Two tricks for getting 3 stars in all levels: 1. Max your "base max life" skill and make sure base is fully health when you win. Gives 20k bonus. 2. Take your time winning. The score rate ticks downward, but you keep racking up kill pts until it reads 0.

yeah, all 6 turrets are key for the flagships, including Hindenburg. the shells hit aircraft as well, and can effectively shut down all aircraft launched from a carrier as they try to take off.

As mrmanno1 notes, you can use other planes to shield the bomber cluster. I usually send a fighter "escort" as it eats more missiles than 2 torpedo bombers.

elijah77, no need to sell cannon. you build up the bombers over time. if you have recycle and supplies maxed, you can add one each time they return to reload (stage left). strategy works for all levels. In Hinderburg, the bomber clear the fleet below and you spam fighters/helos to get the blimp.

btw, for Hinderburg, i use the same tactics, but when the blimp comes, i spam fighters and helicopters as fast as possible. takes out the blimp fairly quickly.

SC10n, much simpler strategy for all levels except Hindenburg: get a battleship as soon as possible. then build bombers, timing their creation so the overlap each other. soon you have a "super bomber" that will destroy all non-aircraft quickly, including Yamato, while minimizing per-bomber damage due to tight grouping when flying into anti-aircraft fire. i also max my cannons quickly as they hit both surface ships and aircraft, including enemy bombers. with this tactic, i won all levels easily, and got Kong high scores on many.

For ref, two tips that make winning easy: 1. Build all your shore guns (artillery). These are key to mowing down enemy fleets. 2. Build a bomber. When it returns to base, it will turn around offscreen (left side). As soon as it hits the turn-around point, build another bomber. Keep doing this, stacking many bombers on top of each other. Soon you will effectively have a super bomber that drops concentrated loads of bombs while absorbing minimal damage per bomber due to the stacking. With this trick, you can sink the Yamato easily without even building the fortress.
