This is a cool game, mixing a lot of different mechanics we've seen before in a new way. I would like two things more. First, a survival mode outside of the story where enemies of all types may spawn, forcing you to play around the weaknesses of each enemy type. Also, I don't like that the second upgrade is the same whichever tree you take for the first upgrade. It seems like the knights should turn into paladins, but the barbarians should turn into something else.
This game is really really good. It's also REALLY hard, and REALLY frustrating. There are two features I'd like to see: the first is an item that, when used allows you to start back from level 6 the next time (and only the next time) you die. This keeps the spirit of the "start from scratch" style, but is a little more forgiving. The second is a Demo mode where you could watch yourself (or anyone, really) play without the pauses. I'm sure if you watched without the time stops, you would look like a magnificent badass, weaving behind cameras, and never getting spotted. I want to see that badass.
This is a beautifully designed game. The bare bones are excellent. The play style is fun, and strategically different from other similar games. The only thing holding this game back is that the aesthetics are generic. This game deserves a sequel.
This is a really good combination of some of the ideas we've seen into a different kind of game. My biggest critique would be that the units are too similar-black and red mage fulfill the same role, and the archers are are different more or less only in fire rate to power ratio. It'd be cool if there were some sort of archer who shot double, but with poor accuracy, or one with fire arrows that burn over time. Maybe a mage with low attack, but that can heal nearby soldiers, or one that summons animals. A lot of possibilities.
On the scale of times they kill you, even on hardcore bounty is still (1) biters (2) green gloople bump, then anything (3) torchie (4) meltie (5) anything else. I love it that the most dangerous glooples are still the simplest for the most part.
No matter how good you get at the game, fighting a razor queen is more luck than anything. She takes 5 hits, and the only time you can safely hit her is when she strikes. Keep as far away from her as possible when swinging, or the hit will bounce off her blades, and you will die. The best tools for fighting her (in my opinion) are the grenade, and the reactive armor. The grenade provides two hits if you can stay alive long enough for the recharge. If she digs in, you're probably dead; just try to survive. The spears bounce off of you if you are wearing the armor. Always kill the underground thingies first: they are probably her most dangerous weapon. You can make her destroy her own spike jacks, which helps. Mostly, it's just luck. If she strikes a bunch of times, you have a good chance. If she doesn't, you are toast. Use the practice mode. Remember: in order for the kill to count, you have to get it yourself, not your box gun, which can kill her easily if put out when she digs in.
I love the game. Every part of it is good. If I were to have any criticisms, they would mostly be with the main character. I love the art as a whole, but I really would like my character to where a helmet when I do and so on. After fifty floors of staring at that guy, I hate him. A variable character would be nice too (male/female choice if nothing else.) The other big thing is that bosses are just lame. They basically just compare stats with you, and if you haven't done enough grinding, you have to run away and use your wings. Perhaps instead, a boss would produce random walls and enemies between you and it after a few hits or something. Something at least a bit more complex then watching them butt heads. It's a fantastic game. I'm only making such comments because I'd love to see a sequel.
This is the shell of a great game, but I really wish it had improved upon a few of the things from the first game. For example, it kind of sucks that all the upgrade paths are kind of the same. The spells are different, but the statuses are all done the same. I wish there was more variation based on what you focus on.
Woah, they teach you to hop a sliding rogue in wizard school! At first I thought it was a glitch... then I had to watch the little hop every time I saw a mage.
Brilliant game. If you're making a sequel, I have some suggestions: minions could level up when they kill enemies. You could make multiple playable characters who would follow different villain archetypes, though it wouldn't have much impact on actual gameplay. Different hero groups could exist to fight you depending on where you target and your notoriety: you would know about who you were up against, and come against specific ones. A little less misogyny would be nice... just saying. A system of locations that doesn't leave out like a third of the world. You could choose a starting location, and until you owned a plane or teleporter, you couldn't do missions outside that area. there could be more possibilities than just success and failure for more complicated missions. And kidnappings should actually give you the prisoner, then you could choose to ransom or kill the prisoner. Okay, that's a lot. Sorry, I'm stoned. Thanks for reading.
Mwahahahahahahahahahaha!!! I finally beat the game (I consider it beaten after round 13: the first of the all white alien waves.) Three weeks of toil, but I did it! Great game. There could be more to it, such as bonus levels, bosses, or power ups, but it's lovely in its simplicity.
I bet you'll se much more diversity if I'll make a sequel :)
