Eh, I think maybe it's because the game targets a very specific kind of people. In my experience, my favourite films/books/anything are almost never universally acclaimed, but the 'craft' that went into them can always be felt. Hopefully that's what we accomplished with all three of our games so far.
The graphics, screen transitions, music and cutesy non-violent/cartoonish theme reminds me of Kirby's Dream Land (1&2). The secrets are kind of obnoxious to get but not necessary to complete the game, which also reminds me of the rainbow drops in KDL2. Awesome.
"Sir, we are out of food" "Nevermind that, let's get together for some group therapy." I finished the radio early and let my team starve while keeping moral up. But hey, video game logic.
