for anyone complaining about the controls....why not use an actual controller? Way easier for dang near any side-scroll or platform type game....and very excellent for the egad of online free fps games that have been springing up. I don't know....maybe I'm one of the few who takes the time to assign buttons and play....if you can't find 30 seconds to do that ....maybe you'd find more interest in an 'idle game'. Have a nice day.

Wait.... I think I missed episode 2 .... The items and a couple of the notebook names are familiar...but the cultists aren't.... Sigh.... I'll be back....
For those of you playing this for the first time.... I highly recommend getting the magnet upgrade as early as possible. It will relieve you of having to continually worry about clicking the tractor beam to collect gems.

Very cool game. One thing I will note (to the developer), after the initial upgrade of the 'mega-bomb' using it causes no dmg. I reset the browser and tried again thinking it might have been a temp. glitch...but the bomb would go off when initiated but caused absolutely no dmg. I upgraded to mega bomb lvl. 3 and it worked again. Finally (at the end of the game), I maxed the mega bomb upgrade and ran into the same problem as I did on the second upgrade.
Other than that, I thought the game was great. I just wish there were one more level.... : )

Thanks for the feedback! We are looking at that megabomb problem, and I can't catch the reason for now. Sometimes enemies (on Level 3, e.g.) can be stronger than megabomb explosion effect (they can stay alive). But looks like in your case it is not working at all. Maybe it is connected with lags somehow? We will try to fix it, anyway.
Let me start off by saying that I liked the art work and the music is decent. I always like upgrades and Im glad you put in check points. The different weapons were well balanced to the enemy types I faced. A constant barrage of air and ground kept me busy.
Now, I pick it apart. It would be nice if the game were longer. It took me maybe 15 minutes to beat the game. I ran through again just to max out my weapons. More control would be nice. Your basic left to right and maybe a jump feature. Perhaps each family member could have a 'special move' based on a timer or a one time only use. Weak point or head shots would be a cool add on. You could add power up drops (ie: rapid fire, x2 dmg, shield ect....). Bosses at the end of each stage... Bonus round games... Im just slinging ideas here....
Well, I look forward to seeing the sequel.

Wow....I honestly thought it would take you a bit longer to get the web version out.... I remember reading that you were going to work on the iOS stuff first....
Thanks a ton....Ive been waiting with anticipation for a long while....

This is quite the close replica of an older game for old PCs and the Sega Genesis. It was called Kings Quest.... It was the prequel to Heroes of Might and Magic. Kind of cool to see it in this altered flash form.... 4/5
Great series...and an interesting story. I also like how everything made enough sense that I didn't once have to look up what to do next. (you almost had me on the light bulb though... I overlooked that you could pick it up...) 5/5 for the type of game that it is....GREAT JOB!!!! ~J~
The father is kind of raising his boy to be a careless coward. Throughout the game he plays out false machismo in the face of danger....then proves his true heart by running back and hiding behind his family.
Then at the very end when the alien (who saved his family) dies, the women stay behind to mourn....while he and his son nonchalantly run off screen to safety.
Great game...but like I said...the father's a jerk.
There aren't many flash games that get me to pause and reflect the characters....
Nicely done!

Well... go and play the episode 2 and then return for the episode 3! XD
