Found a glitch in "Spiralized". If you full-reset the room while the gravity is inverted, the game will glitch out, causing you do fall endlessly into the entrance not being able to make progress
Overall, great job. The gameplay feels intuitive, the soundtrack gets you into the right mood, popping into and out of the paper is an interesting mechanic and each level managed to keep me engaged during the entirety of my session. Great job, a full 5/5 from me.
So there is a potential softlock that the player can run into. I completed the thirsty guy's quest and forgot to pick up his soul. I left the house and returned, but the soul had left, and I couldnt complete the quest, forcing me to start over. Perhaps have the soul enter your inventory automatically, so that the player cannot leave without picking up the soul
I was liking the game at first. The game had an original concept, the mechanics introduced made the game varied in its solutions, and some of the levels were indeed a challenge to be solved.
That being said, this game is a chore to get through to get to the good parts. It feels like some levels were put in for filler, and are quite tedious to get through (With level 24: The backwards L puzzle being a prime example). The game feels slowed down by the dragging mechanic, rather than having some sort of hotkey or clickable direction system, and certain mechanics had to be figured out by guesswork, rather than making it obvious to the player.
I believe if the game was more focused on introducing/mixing up mechanics, rather than focusing on the method of completion, it would be a lot better. The game gets a 3/5 from me.
I go through the entire game, end up in the bonus levels, and only now I notice that there was a total of all the numbers in the bottom right corner. *facepalms* That would have been useful to know for some of the harder puzzles.
This game is an excellent blend of Sherlock holmes mechanics mixed with zombie humor. Nice aesthetics and great puns all round. The music choice for me felt a bit repetitive at times and didn't fit the mood (I would have chosen more of a 60's noir detective film style with a lighter tone to balance out with the humor). The gameplay worked fine, I got stuck a few times, but the hint system is well intergrated and felt natural to use. The ending was good, however I disagree with the interpretation of the motive for the Nine cat's heist. I felt that it was too literal for what they were trying to accomplish, and would have chosen a different item to steal. Otherwise it was a solid 4/5 for me. Great work
The game needs work. Reduce the wait times, allow for an easier way for weaker characters with interesting tactics to level up (otherwise it becomes a game of "wait until a character with high might drops" and the weaker characters never come back). Create a better story mode, eliminate characters who look-alike, add a might option to the sorting list. There are many things that need to be done before I will consider coming back.
This game has nice themeing and an interesting plot to help the player keep motivated throughout the game. However, a few puzzles in, the game runs out of line types and starts reusing them in repetitive ways, rather than spacing it out throughout the entire game. Puzzle 11 needs work as the line 9/10 times was not long enough to reach the circle. This game would have received a 3/5 under normal circumstances, but because of a game breaking glitch I encountered where I refreshed the page and lost my save data, I was unable to finish the game and the rating is now 2/5
So, I decided to use one of the hints in the Arcade Anxiety level, says to move the spikey haired blue alien to the top. However there is no spikey haired model or a blue alien or anything of that nature that I can see, so it's kind of a useless hint
Well that's not very good now is it! Thank you so much for pointing it out to us. We will take a look at it and try and create a different, more useful hint for that level. Sorry about the inconvinience.
So in the world of serial killer movies so far (on the 5th movie) I have learned that serial killers don't like killing cats, policemen are completely unaware of their surroundings, even if you kill a victim right in front of them, and sharkman can drown. I love it :)
I liked this game. It's a nice parody of what Pokemon looks to outsiders. The only thing I would dock it for is the annoying music. Had to mute it because it was hurting my head. Still, it deserves a 4/5
Here are my recommendations to make your game better.
1. Include more game play and less dialogue.
The more you can present through gameplay, the better. Helps keep the player engaged without the player getting bored from too much backstory.
2. Balance out the story
The was the crime played out, the only conclusion I could make is that the initial culprit did not commit the crime. I need more relevant facts to conclude the case myself, rather than just having the main character somehow solve it for me, and make me guess instead
3. Make the debate format more user friendly.
It was kind of difficult and confusing to use, especially when making the choices through the icons. Maybe include the question and better explain your options.
Overall, the game has potential, but the crime plot needs to be fleshed out, and the jokes seemed too cliche/weird for my taste. 3/5
The story felt like it was written separate from the gameplay, making the players actions pointless in the overall plot. The ending was unjustified, since throughout the game it felt like you were just traversing the levels, and not actually working towards a goal. The control scheme was frustrating with just a mouse, a directional key/mouse hybrid where the arrows move the character and the camera is moved by the mouse would have worked much better. The concepts for the levels are interesting, but don't add up to any complex late game challenge, making it feel more like a level pack rather than an adventure. The art style is interesting, but fails to hold my attention because every level looks exactly the same with the only variation being in color and placement of paths. 2/5, I would suggest playing a game like Fez if you want a similar but more well made experience.
The concept of going into the mirror world and interacting with things is interesting, and the style of graphics helps matches the tone that the game needs. However, basic questions have been left unanswered, like how someone loses a shadow, why does he care, and why not just carry a mirror around and not risk facing the shadows. Gameplay requires large leaps of logic and tedious repeat checking of objects until you happen to have the right object and use it on the right thing, and the hint system not being that helpful. Also, the direction the story is taking does not seem as interesting as the story setup by Becky. 3/5, would have been a 2/5 without the interesting concept
The graphics are visually appealing, although I wish there was saturation options for the color (not a big deal). The indirect story is appealing and keeps me playing. The training and missions get boring and repetitive after a while, especially after all the quickbar skills are unlocked. The money and stat numbers get too big to reasonably comprehend. (The money in survival at the beginning is unresonably low). This game gets a 3/5 from me. It was a good attempt at an RPG. I would have rated it 4/5, but the last boss was rediculously overpowered
4/5 The only thing that was frustrating was the timed puzzle. and the fact that you couldn't study the pictures for long enough to decode them. Other then that, it was constantly challenging and fun to play.
Thanks. Glad you liked it!
