still grinding, long after beating everything, still need at least 25,000 scrap metals to max out gear...*headscratch* post game max out phase is deceptively long, but at least people aren't mass whining about rubies and sapphires anymore! :P

Kinda guessing at this, but, I think the secret quest items are chest only items (not droppable/stealable), and chest items are random, and they don't always spawn? That or I'm doing something wrong...at well over 1500 battles, have beaten Koohi, and I basically have no idea where to look for this stuff.

@Uthief: right on. Glad to know it's viable; I wouldn't have assumed so otherwise. But I did take your 500 statement pretty literally...by this point I have actual endgame experience, so I get what you're saying. ALSO: FLAME SAMURAIS DROP RUBIES!

@outlined you'll see it in the comp tab, starting in the third town @frostgard1 it's a thief skill, it's called flee @Magnitudem again would really recommend grinding the new areas after completing Wanted X, but Bat King does drop other cool stuff too; my best prize was a start all. Boosters are great, sleep all also allows you to fight above your pay grade nicely. Re: circlets, dune worms in NORMAL ch2 zombie area drop them, so do mobs in the last areas.

@Magnitudem, I think you get one from a quest, right? Otherwise, I'm pretty sure I got one off of Bat King, but I did tons of runs in a misguided attempt to get circlets - I wouldn't suggest that. Think one dropped in Sunken Ruins and another in Doom Lair, off random mobs.

It could very well be that I don't have experience with high level vampric weapons, and I don't! But until convinced otherwise I don't think the experience is worth the scrap metal :( despite the fact that I'd like reality to be otherwise, hehe.

@UThief: Appreciate the discussion, I do, but I'm not sure you've got my point - you heal 200hp under best (cleaving multpile attackers) conditions, but normal mob hits you for 600hp, and I don't see how the 200hp makes a significant difference in a fight that you don't already have a massive upper hand in. All outcomes of fights are determined by the 3rd-4th round at the latest....

@Ichthyic: are you looking at sp gains after battle in the inventory screen, or only the battle/rewards screen? Also, sp ring seems useless, as fully grinding gear/drops/scrap seems like it'll take longer than sp will be relevant.

Also, I think it's fantastic hearing someone as cute as Mari say "Boom, headshot!"

It would have been pretty cool to alchemy up some boss, unfindable weapons, but I'm glad I didn't, and I think doing so would have been a huge waste of scrap metal. Second, and I think bigger, issue: ch 3+ post game play seems to revolve around exploiting sleep all. I'm sure I can survive most encounters without the skill (shockwave and stuff is great), but boostering in a sleep all makes everything so much easier...and simultaneously makes outpacing the mobs, strength wise, obsolete. That's dangerous, I think, because it's a big part of the point of grinding. I would suggest tweaking the mobs' speed down a bit.

5/5, really, it's tons of fun. I just completed Wanted X; I didn't want to speak too soon as I'm sure lots of previous posters have played more than I have. I am concerned about a few things: 1) when reading up on the weapon types, I thought the vampirics would be the way to go with a normal, attack centered build. And I was happy to be able to make one soon after getting the first crystal, but I gave up after upping it to II-1 and comparing the attack lost with a high-attack weapon, and realizing the divide was only going to get bigger with more upgrades. Further play confirmed: late game mobs hit my (offensively minded) chars for high percentages of life, making attack much more important than the 10% life steal. If it was 30%? 25% even? Maybe, but you're still giving up tons of damage, and dead mobs don't hurt you.

I played the game all the way through, so you're doing very well. My biggest complaint was closing the post battle screen. My mouse was invariably somewhere around the middle of the player, and I always had to scroll up to that little "x" in the top right corner. I also found this game to be significantly more laggy than other flash games, which substantially added to the annoyance of closing the window. A hotkey would be fantastic, a (relocated) bigger button would help a lot, or just get rid of that screen. Though superfluous, its elimination would require some other level up notification. Next: shrines, while they are late acquisitions, are extremely overpowered. There is gratification in being the supreme god of whateverville, but that hardly measures up to the feeling of a hard won (or even mildly contested) victory over a challenging foe. The final boss didn't even get a beneficial action in before it died. Lastly, is there an end to the soul upgrades?
