For those who don't know their percentages.. which I would hope you do if you are trying to become a programmer on 3/10 building a tip calculator part 1 it is stated in the lesson:
Good. Now, we need to calculate the sales tax. Make a new variable called salesTax, of type Number, and set it equal to 8%. Careful here, if you type in 8, it won't work. How do we express 8% as a decimal? In your answer, please put a zero before the decimal point.
it should say add a 0 before AND after the decimal point. for 8% it should show as 0.08 if you were to take the lesson text and just add the one 0 you would have 0.8 which is 80%. granted I am sure the dev for this game is just wanting to make sure you are placing an integer before the decimal to ensure that you are using a "proper" integer that all programming languages will recognize, but some people tend to take things a bit literally and differently. Again, thank you to Gregory for making this game, thus far it is quite helpful.
small issue with 4/8 on strings and variables. you ask us to concatenate dollarSign + userMoney so it looks like it does in the game.. in the game there is a space between the dollarSign and userMoney, so therefor it should technically be dollarSign + " " + userMoney.. however this is a wrong answer.. maybe I am being picky.. but I think I should get bonus points for that one LOL... otherwise in game it should be $300 vs $ 300... thank you for this game though.. it is very helpful thus far.
great game, just a couple suggestions, either add buttons for multi purchase with costs on them, or set it up so when you hold shift or ctrl the cost changes accordingly, thank you for a great game!
one thing you can do as far as beta testing, when you upload, label it as a beta, that way everyone expects things to be very buggy, and you will be able to receive some kinder feedback on bugs and improvements. You have a great base going here, so keep your head up and keep on trucking... don't take criticism too hard, and don't get upset or brought down over mistakes or problems you are having a hard time solving.. it's all a process.. just take your time, and don't rush.. people may yell and demand things.. let them... in the end.. they will appreciate the fact that you took your time to ensure quality over speed and more bugs... if they don't.. well that is their problem not yours. keep on doing what you do.. your doing just fine. thank you for the game!
great job. mobs could drop faster after capture, and curious as to the point of the coins, are there going to be upgrades? are they just for scoring purposes for more stars? other than that nice work.
4/5 works well, is pretty fun, but a bit difficult which would be fine if there were some upgrades or power ups to help out. still fun though. thank you
aside from being able to walk through buttons when they are on the edge of the screen and mobs seeming to get stuck, seem pretty decent so far. would suggest some polishing of the monster movement mechanics, maybe some way to attack, explore the depths and mazes of the dungeon, ultimately you need to make something you are happy with, and if it takes rehashing a tutorial for you to learn new things, then do it.. if making games is your passion, then stick with it and learn what you can in anyway you can.. props to you...
I think its great.. needs a bit of substance such as scoring or a counter for kills, different zombies or something, beyond that.. mechanics seem pretty solid, love the bullet cam... thanks, hope to see this get some substance and end up with the 4/5 or 5/5 games. keep up the good work!
I'm giving it 3/5, good solid effort for a first game on a new engine... the aiming mechanics are a bit off.. still moving for a second after releasing a movement key makes things rather difficult... got stuck in the water... but as I said, good job for a first game! thank you.
Thank you for the tutorial! Tried getting into programming in high school using pascal, but had some issues that kept me out of school for a few weeks and the class size was too big for the teacher to have time to help me catch up.. after all these years, this is actually lighting that fire under my rear again. can't wait to see more. again, thank you!
Glad to be of help :) Unfortunately, I think I'm going to stop making these tutorials (for now at least) because of work constraints, other projects, etc. I accidentally posted this last night in an attempt to delete the game completely... So for now, I would read up on tutorials online. Python is great first language to learn, and I would encourage you to possibly take a couple of classes for fun! One thing to note is that a lot of Python tutorials online are in Python 2.7 which has a different syntax. I think the newest version of Python is 3.4, so any tutorial with Python 3+ is probably the ones I would look at.
