Huge pay wall right off the start.. Science drops are rare, so upgrading your troops is rare as well (unless you buy science). The matching system always matched you against max defenses. So the defenses are much stronger than any troops you can train yourself. Forcing you to purchase better troops, or purchase science to try and upgrade your troops.
