Not normally a big fan of faux-retro platformers, but this one is superbly made. I seldom feel compelled to leave positive reviews, even for the good strat/rpgs on Kong, but this game deserves high praise. My hat is off to you Zillix.
@Scorpion1397 I watched for several turns-only single draws. All of the sudden, same opponent, BAM every turn a double draw. It might be meant to do that, but it is idiotic. Difficulty should be based on skill of the AI, not on adding cheap gimmicks to give them the advantage. It's like the catch-up feature in the old Mario Cart games. Letting the AI cheat is not equivalent to upping difficulty. It's like making Monopoly harder by giving your opponents 2 rolls and double the starting property. I'm glad so many people find enjoyment from this game, but I'd still take a nail to the sack before I played it again. Farewell, Elements, it has been mildly entertaining.
Ya know what? I don't care anymore. I was going to keep playing after I got the quest badge, but if the ai opponents get to cheat I would rather shoot a nail gun into my genitals. i don't know if double-drawing is a difficulty thing or just a card every one of my half-blood opponents gets to play without my knowledge, but screw this game. I'd rather play the old pokemon ccg than this cheat POS.
Why in the bloody &#$@ did one of my half-blood opponents just magically get to draw 2 cards every turn without playing any cards or effects to allow it? So, the ai just gets to cheat?
The only thing I dislike more than this game is the dedicated group of idiots that vote to hide negative comments and chide everyone (about 80-90% of all posters) who dares not love it as a sore loser. This game is obviously not even close to random. Anyone claiming otherwise is a liar or an idiot. The only place this game would be considered fair is a Vegas Casino. Stop hiding negative comments. People need to know how crooked this game is.
Why is it that all the negative comments about this grindfest of a game are voted under the threshold and hidden? Entire pages of negative comments hidden by votes... Methinks shenanigans be occurring...
Two games of testing in a two-player game and I stand by my "rigged" comment. This game throw probability out the window, obviously and totally favoring one of the two players every time for the duration of the match. Keep rolling dice and claiming to understand probability and statistics, I think I'll go play something where my ability to win is not totally based on the AI's discrimination.
Hate to speak ill of the dead, but this game is fixed as can be, tilted entirely either toward the ai or player on any given game. No other explanation for the stacking that occurs. One player gets 3 free rolls each time, the other gets zilch if they roll more than twice. luck runs strange, but not this strange. At least gaby won't have to hear people bash the game anymore.
Like most, I found this to be a good game with a few flaws preventing greatness. Shield tiles and, for the most part, healing tiles are useless. Combined with the small grid and often infuriating random distributions of tiles, these useless options do nothing but make it harder to chain and get gold. If we were given a free randomization each battle to compensate, an "exit battle" button might not be needed. Other than that, this is one of the better new games I've played in a while.
Would be enjoyable if you actually had time to strategize and the AI didn't magically get a 3-6 combo nearly every turn. The 19 Second turn timer ruined it, cheap luck-based tile system brought it beyond redemption. Nice try, though. Maybe next time there could be OPTIONS for things like turn timer. Seriously, the 19 second timer alone would be bad enough, but cheap magic AI combos that are nearly impossible to counter? Why?
Would be fun, if the towers worked properly. I'm sick of having gems stolen because my main tower array decides to take a 5 second break during a critical moment.
Excellent game. Well designed, no bugs to speak of, and a leveling system that doesn't require hours of Sonny style grinding. Only flaw is the reinforcement design and bosses that constantly reinforce. It doesn't really make it harder, just more time consuming and a little cheap. Overall, 4/5
Very well, my English Nazi friend, I shall explore the good aspects as well. First, however, I would like to point out that if you feel like attacking my creative English, you should first learn proper comma usage. Don't be a nazi unless you can live up to the job. Ok, so the card art was exquisite. The endless possibility of deck builds wasn't too shabby either, though the number of decks that are effective is limited. The creativity in this game was centered in areas that I simply didn't care about. I am far from being disturbed that I can't win (I have won at least half my matches, what 30 or so I have played), I just believe in skill-based over luck-based games, and this one doesn't measure up. I apologize if my previous review was sparse, but I see little need to kiss up to the developers by oozing over the good bits. I know when I'm looking for a game to play for fun, I want to know the worst parts of it from players. I trust the people advertising it to give me the high points.
Unfair, unfun pvp that you are forced to play to earn half the badges. The only way to win an even pvp match is to make cheap, repetitive decks that shown no real imagination or strategy. Otherwise, just hope for a weak opponent and the luck of the draw. If I didn't need this one last badge for the 2009 set, I would sooner smash my most sensitive areas with a small rubber mallet than play this generic, tedious, poorly designed card game.
If the decks weren't rigged 80% of the time, this game would be fun. Then there's the fact that you have to buy the privilege of facing an opponent with the same currency you use for cards, so you can't focus on deck building until you grind like an idiot on the low level ai just to get a deck that can beat the card-stacking opponents after level 2. I am going to caps lock this so maybe someone will pay attention: GRINDING IS NOT FUN! Last time I checked, the whole point of playing a game is to enjoy yourself, so this is a pretty big thing guys, lets learn the lesson already.
