That is true MDawg. the points are based on the following: Monster HP, Accuracy, Repel rate, and Arrow flight time. The Accuracy and Repel rate are not counted untill the end, where your score is multiplied by 10 and then your acc and repel

Avenger- 20 points. Fire a giant star to deal dmg up to 6 foes.
Endure- 15 points. Increase the MP you recover.
Blast- 30 points. launch 1 star for major dmg.
Triple shot: launch 3 stars at once.

Kumbi stars (125% dmg) 10 points. 3 stars per point.
Lucky 7. 10 points... (look at MS stats for it)
Star Range. 15 points. Increases the distance you throw stars with power (i.e. if you shot a star at 80% it would the same distance as at 100% star)
Claw Mastery- a lot like Bow Mastery- 10 points
you could have that... or this:
you use strafe and do 100% dmg with 1 arrow... x1 combo gets you 101%... x2 combo gets you 102.01% and x10 gives you 110.45% dmg, x11 gets you 111.55 (1.10% increase) and so on... eventually you hit 50x and are doing... 164.2% dmg now.
So in theory- each combo increases your dmg by 1% exactly.
because the x combo is 1% of the DMG % you do- so if you use a skill that does 510% (Power Arrow) the x1 will increase dmg by 5.1% for that skill.- so by x100 you'd be doing 1020% of normal dmg
Tip- Combos are the MOST IMPORTANT part of this game. They are key on boss levels later in the game.
how combo works... release when you hit 100%
the x(#) is actually a dmg increase- 100% of normal dmg + combo #'s % = new dmg
so if you have a x50 combo with max strafe (100% dmg per arrow)- its...
100% + .50 or 50% = 150%... all arrows do 150% of normal dmg.
so a x100 combo will have you doing double dmg.
