Figured it out, combination seems to be Chrome (v24), Retina Display and Flash Player plug-in running in "retina mode". In Firefox (v18) it still seems to run in a lower resolution and the game's smooth as ever.
I can't seem to find the "It's New York" track. The badge description says I should look for it on the Carina server but it's not there. Then, the game description tells me otherwise, I have to search each server for it. Tried that, nothing. "Newbieland 2" can be easily found, on the other hand (and I can find it on _every_server, btw). What's the name of the level author for New York? Stevedx20? How do I write the level name exactly? With an apostrophe? Single quotation mark? Accent grave? This is frustrating. :-|
Why is it that I'm sometimes riding like hell and there's just some small glitch in my otherwise smooth skiing and suddenly my multiplier drops from 68 to 1?
Definitely a great game, but illogical things like that drive me nuts and they certainly take away from an otherwise great game.
I generally try to be a nice guy and think twice before being rude but this game sucks hard. The idea is nice and all, but the technical implementation is a lousy joke.
It's a bug-ridden annoyance with typos all over the place. How can this crappy thing be part of the "Best of 2007" quest?
There should really be an auto-pause when your mouse left the screen. I just wanted to punch the screen because of that. Other than that fantastic game, thanks!
Surely has its flaws game-flow-wise, but hell … it's so much fun. My girlfriend's already rolling her eyes when she hears the fans chanting.
Played it first here, bought it a few days ago on the iPhone. Thanks to the dev!
I used Titandrake's tip for collecting 100 space stars, with a slight modification: I stopped using the engine at about 1,5-2 bars and when having stalled and used your emergency engine, use the rest of your fuel to get in a fast horizontal flight. Space stars speed you up and you should manage to stay at about 150 feet for a while without doing anything.
And what a great game! After the mysterious upgrade, did anyone get the reference to "Learn to Fly"? ;-D
Liked it very much. But would be cooler with more vehicle types. And being able to stop your car while midair should be fixed.
Also the challenges where you ain't allowed to hit anything are boing and take away from the fun.

Great game, nice level design. Only thing annoying is the autoscroll that often gets in your way. Would be better if you were able to navigate via the little map.
