I'm an achievement junkie and I know I can't be the only one. I absolutely hate that almost every game is given an impossible badge. By the time I complete one set of badges 5 more games have come out. This is ridiculous.
I've been waiting for Kongregate to badge more games for quite a while... I was insanely excited when I saw a new Epic Battle Fantasy game get badged. This is going to keep me happily busy for awhile.
I have to take my last comment back. Initially it seems harder, but once you get used to the new dynamic of the game, it feels a lot more fair. Much less RNG than before. You still need to do well in the shop with good prices and some luck on the draws during each round, but it feels much more doable. The biggest change from before is that the pawns are much less valuable in this version than the last version. You really need to think ahead as you're much more likely to be thrown into situations where you can't move because you're left with nothing but pawns and no place to move but straight up, which causes you to end your turn prematurely. The new change is welcome and it feels like an entirely new game!
Personally, although I appreciate the efforts to improve the game, I think the pawns have become useless in the new setup. I've had a few cases where I'm stuck with a bunch of pawns that have cantrips and armors, but nowhere to go. Mob in front of us, but can't attack that way and nothing diagonal. So you're forced to end turn. I've only played about 10 games, but I actually feel this setup is harder to get the impossible badge. Thumbs up if you agree, thumbs down if you disagree.
Having gems that spawn a random amount doesn't add anything to the game except frustration. As somebody who plays daily trying to get the impossible badge, whatever joy I experience from getting 5 coins in a gem is only a fraction of the frustration I feel when I get a gem with 3 coins.
I really enjoyed the game. I make a lot of accidental moves when I change my mind after clicking on a piece.. Might be nice to see an undo last move button or something.
Wow. Closed my browser and reopened it 5 minutes later and lost the 45 levels I went through. Second time. Never happened on any other game. I wouldn't recommend anybody play this game...
