The game just isn't engaging. Despite the effort, it's not a fun "kick the ____". Maybe it's lacking purpose. The recent update may have bugged it too. The critter kept rolling on the sea, going from mine to mine, wouldn't stop or die, crossed it all that way.
For all it has, it's not interesting. More along the lines of the upgrading picture would be nice, maybe some tabs for vacation spots you've visited, homes you've built, countries bought out, impact on the world; and some things to pick and choose between what to fund, and at the end of the game there would be one of several pictures with words about the results.
This is going to be a negative review. I really liked the first one, and the second was an improvement on that. But Feudalism III is way too easy even compared to those and wasn't worth playing out. You keep gaining several levels at once and get to the end of the skill tree quickly; money is just dumped on you; units often aren't actually intelligent enough to fight against the enemy, leading to battles where you just spam abilities until there's no enemy left; there's no believable purpose in the game, no reason to take over the continent, both story-wise and as a player. You can just do the hunts and that's that, no army can stand against you. Over the years since Feudalism II came out, I may have spent more time thinking about playing this than actually playing it, and certainly enjoyed those daydreams more than I enjoyed the actual game. As a random game on Kongregate, it's not bad, but as the successor to its predecessors, it flops.
Pretty fun game. Needs brushing up though. And it's too easy; I didn't even know what was going on at first, yet beat it without losing a battle or using any items. If it is patched up, given a higher difficulty, and added to, it will be five stars.
All the clans are very balanced and fun to play. You can get the #1 rank, become the Great Mage, etc. using any clan and basically regardless of alignment and choices, if you upgrade your stats and skills well. Trust me, I've played this a couple dozen times..
