Hey MARTINIRosso, thanks for the game! It would be nice to have some in-game reminder of what each of the character classes do. You could implement a tooltip-like prompt, or maybe a question-mark icon at a corner of each class's image on the class upgrade screen.
Cool feature: While the workshop tab is up and the battle is raging on behind the semi-transparent tab, you can *still* mouse over resource drops to reap them. Very nice!
Quick newbie guide
1st 5 sets of 3 skills:
* Gold Vault x3
* Gold Vault x2, Height Advantage
* Cut Out, Cut Out Mastery x2
* Cut Out, Cut Out Mastery x2
* Cut Out x3
Now cut a forest, get 100 gold. Do often.
After you are level 6, focus on beating Ninjas. Next skills to target:
* Mana Pool x 1, Soul Vault
* Mana Pool max
* Meteor Study & Mastery to take out boss Ninjas. Note that after selecting Meteor, you can shift-click to cast it more than once.
Next: Mind Control, Mana Extraction, Ice Mastery.
Don't bother with these:
* Mining. You're going for Brilliant ratings, so why bother?
* Return Portal. See above.
* Frenzy Study/Frenzy Mastery. I never Frenzy.
* Poison Mastery. AVOID.
Level strategy: Beat Ninjas; you can then beat most everything else. Build towers up front so Ninjas disappear ASAP, then spam towers by the gems before Ninjas come to take out Ninjas after they reappear. Build towers in the middle to take out other dudes, too. Keep enough mana to beat Ninja bosses.
I like the game! Recommendation: In battle, when no monsters are attacking and the characters have not moved for awhile (say, 20 sec), assume the characters are in "heal" mode and will heal 10x as fast. Otherwise the player has to wait a long time for characters to heal.
I got that Oct 29 time down to 3:48. As it turns out, the reactor is unnecessary, and the main determining factor in minimizing time seems to be how fast you can build the mortar. Start building it right next to Odin City right after the first few collectors are built, and move it to the easternmost tip of the island after it is assembled and before it starts firing.
Finished Oct 29 in 4:22. Move Odin City to the island close to the creeper, cover it with green ASAP (totem #1), then put a mortar on the easternmost tip and build a reactor. Also, build an (unconnected) relay in the middle of the smaller island to the north, and two collectors to (eventually) cover the island in green and connect to totem #2. When the mortar starts to rock the creeper, build a relay that connects to the relay on the small island. Your single mortar will soon make the creeper retreat enough north of the small island to allow you to build a single-collector bridge to totem #3. QED
I might have figured out how the "100% and no daughter" issue is still happening. My character found the room with the daughter, but was killed before reaching her. When my character respawned at the subway, I saw that the whole area was green! My character went back to the room, cleared it, and saved the daughter. I didn't verify that the area showed up as 100% in the subway, though.
Love the game, thanks! The difficulty level is enough to keep me drawn in, but not insanely hard. A few suggestions: (1) After all levels are done, let the user return to any previous level. (2) Give the user a way to turn off the music, which becomes too repetitive after playing awhile.
Tip: To win with other characters in order to get the achievements, you don't have to start over. Instead, after you win the first time, choose 'Continue', select the last level, then select a hero you haven't won with yet. Beat the final boss. Repeat until all of your heroes have won.
Was 5/5 until level 16, now 3/5. Many extremely easy levels, followed by some good ones, followed by basically almost impossible level 16. Would upgrade this game if level 16 were reworked.
@AMMOSOLJA: You can't miss the sand generator once you're on the right screen. Call the the beginning of Castaway Beach Screen 1, or S1 for short. From there:
* Go East (right) from S1 to S2, a screen with more sand beetles
* Go North (up) from S2 to S3, a screen with sand beetles and snakes
* Go North from S3 to S4, a screen with snakes
* (This was the hard one to find for me!) GO EAST (to the east of the monument on the north side of the screen) from S4 to S5. Follow the only path, though beetles, snakes, and a scorpion, to the Sand Generator.
