Well shoot I was so caught up in thanking you for the game I forgot my one suggestion - an option to have the game autopause when it loses focus. That would be pretty nice. Thanks again!
I saw in your vid you said you liked Master of Orion 1. It definitely captures some of that great combination of simplicity while conveying a sense of building and managing a space empire. The way you've been pumping out updates has been impressive as well. Thanks for building this game and sharing it!
thanx man, in hind sight, i probably should have done most of these before releasing the game, but then again, i got lots of great feedback and suggestions that make the game better. today i will be posting another update with lots of UI polishing, and a more intuitive UI in some areas.
Word of warning - don't move or delete objects that an employee is using. They will get stuck. I've got 4 guys stuck working on a project that will never finish because they are all stuck eating forever.
Why am I using my putter if I can't reach the hole with it? Why doesn't "End Now" take into account that each swing adds 5 seconds, and at least try to add 1 swing to an opponent where appropriate? Terrible design on those two factors.
I gotta say the map UI is really impressive. Highlighting the lowest score, showing how many stars you have on a level by filling it with green, great stuff! Only thing is I wish the graphics quality setting was available outside of the end-map splash menu.
@izeyyy the challenge modes for the levels have upgrade caps. on the right side it says "level max #", that's the max level of upgrade that gets counted. so for any heroic or iron challenge that says "level max 4" or below, your legionnaires will not throw spears since that is a level 5 upgrade. however the spears should be thrown on any normal (non-challenge) level, so if you're having the problem there, i dunno what's causing it.
For those of you with elevator issues, a couple of tips --
Don't make elevators that span the entire height of the hotel. Stagger them left and right, spanning a handful of floors (10-15), with a couple of floors overlapping between elevators. Elevators will go all the way to the top/bottom before turning around, so shorter elevators mean less waiting. It does make it a bit more tricky to place rooms, and it uses a little more space on the overlap floors, but it's worth it.
Also having "themed" floors can help your workers a lot. If you have floors with no rooms people stay in, maids can skip them entirely so they'll have less stops to make when doing their rounds. And some shops/entertainment rooms don't require repairs, like the beauty shop or restaurants, so if you make a floor that only has those only guests will visit and your worker elevators will never have to stop there.
I keep hitting Menu when I mean to hit Map. I don't know if my brain's wired wrong, but it seems really weird to me that the far left option is "Exit to Title" instead of "Keep on truckin"
@TyForce8 you get an item called "portal scroll". That lets you teleport to the shop. It's a one-use item and a random drop, but you should get one every few floors.
For those of you with a problem with the world map flickering and being unclickable, or the start button being unclickable, try deleting your save game. That fixed this problem for me.
Also I encountered the problem when I clicked "Developer's Comments" before clicking "Start Playing!" when I started a new game.
Excellent game, enjoyable concept. I would love to see a version 2.0 with more difficulty options.
"Low" quality setting made the game run smooth on my low-performance computer.
To beat the boar boss (#2):
The boar will aim its charge to where you are standing when the screen starts to shake. The gnome will throw its spear only if you are far from the boar's charge line. So stand on the bottom of the screen, as soon as it starts to shake move up to the top. The boar will miss and the spear will be thrown.
When throwing the spear, try to do it from close to where you dropped your weapon. That way you can grab your weapon and get a few hard hits in, instead of having to punch.
Phew -- for level 16 I beat it after many tries by building additional supports angling backwards into the hill. Even then it took a lot of tweaking to get it to work. Good luck!
Haha if you build up your homes/farms/markets really big early, you can start churning out ridiculous amounts of gold by the end. My final net worth was 42,519,017,938
will do!
