I've noticed (on both sides of the equation) that the best card to come up v. VV is a character with high physical resistance. I'm thinking Ashi, Oni, Helene, with the main problem being their inability to attack from a distance.
It's not just chance, but your ability to select which chances you are willing to take. Poker is also based on chance in a similar manner, but there are definite winners and loosers there.

@Ninkov, first number is the base damage, second is the multiplier, if the defender is marquis le mort (whose dark defense is 10) the attack will do nothing.
