try to beat it, and yes it is possible. I've done it with everything except the balloon.
To kill the grinder, you have to soften it by luring it into meltie acid, into another grinder, or hitting it with the Razor Glaive reward. After that just slice it a few times.
For those who know the glitch to fight any enemy you've seen: Apparently the glitch doesn't always work. There is a chance that the monster doesn't appear or you can't click without it going back to the menu. There is also a very small chance that it will automatically clear whatever nest you picked for the glitch, netting you the award for clearing the nest and the badass award.
