if you have good enough scavengers you can scavenge without scouting first with no risk, that reveals the tile so you don't need to waste a turn scouting
The amount of points depends on Kitty Rarity and the Tier of the basket. High Rarity Kitties get less points. High Tier baskets give more points.
-So getting a Rare Kitty in a lil'basket - won't receive very many upgrade points.
