Dear designer, thanks for another great game in your notebook series. As well as giving great entertainment, you are an inspiration for me to design my own games. Thx =D
There's just one serious issue.. If I'm correct, the enemies[] array in ship class will keep getting larger and larger, because when an enemy is killed, it is not removed from the array. Am I right? There's a memory leak right there. Of course it won't be a serious problem unless you play for a very long time.. but.
In all this is a pretty good tutorial. It taught me enough to get up and running with flash, and confident to look up whatever else I need GYIF. It has its issues.. but overall, thumbs up. Thx Kongregate =D
This tutorial is very bad. It doesn't explain any of the mechanics of the health meter ("just copy it or make it yourself"), and even the copied one doesn't work.
Tip: Like many programming languages, Flash script is very case sensitive. So remember to get the case correct in all your code. Eg. There is a difference between "Key.isDown" and "Key.DOWN".
Protip: sniper rifle + detector + stability = game winner (mostly). Laugh at bosses as you pick them off from a distance. Upgrading towers are harder though...
My main gripe is that the weapons are so piddly-ass weak, even at their most upgraded. Eg, it takes almost a full clip to kill one army zombie with the machine gun. This is really only a problem during tower/factory captures, where you can't run away and your man spends most of his time bloody reloading.
Suggestion: Moar upgrades please! the secret levels become a grind with nothing but elite ships, it's just not fun any more.. and the alien artifact supposed to "enhance your ship greatly", but +10% dmg&speed is not that great. But great game, thx!
Can someone please explain how to drive your truck around at the end of the day. I'm pressing WASD, the cursor keys, and using the mouse, but the stupid thing doesn't move.
