This game was short, not too sweet, but it wasn't overly bad. I didn't mind going through it, once. It has absolutely no replay value though. Keep trying, and maybe you'll get somewhere a bit better.
I rated this game a four out of five. I actually highly doubt that this was your first game, but if it was than you are destined for greatness. I can think of a few points to improve upon, however. The movement in this game is definitely flawed, I found it glitching and unpredictable. The upgrades could use a little work, but one of the biggest issues I could see is the background graphics. There needs to be more maps, more levels... I was thinking something similar to Total Annihilation. That, and the lack of new types of enemies makes it a bit boring. If you're willing to work on this game, than it could turn into one of the better games on this site.
I finally got over 600 seconds... And now I'll never have to play this game again. My advice is to pause a lot in the early game... I don't know why, but it helped me.
Skrylius, this is called "juggling," and it is very common among top-end players. It's not technically cheating, but it's as close as a person can get. And even so, what do you do with the fliers?
I've been playing DTD since the beginning, recently here and everywhere else it is. It just irritates me that I still can't get the impossible badge for the 100 without juggling! I've never juggled my opponents, and I don't plan to, but I don't think that a challenge mode should have to use a tactic to grab the badge. You should be able to use whatever tactic you want, that's the whole point of the DTD game. And yet, I still suck at this game. Oh well...
(...m) , the enemy AI was crap. Some of them didn't even fire at all, most were just cannon fodder. The power-ups themselves could use a bit more variety, as well. I'm thinking more than one health pickup (small, medium, large, & regen), speed pickups, more explosive pickups (Again; small, medium, large)... The list for that goes on. This has the potential to be an excellent game. It just needs a lot more work, in my opinion.
I didn't especially like this game. I beat it, sure. But it felt lacking. Though I liked the graphics, it didn't take away from the fact that your bot doesn't seem to upgrade over time. Sure, the shots get slightly better, but the bot itself should change, if only slightly. The shots themselves should run through more than just the 'one, two, three' tree, though if you wanted to keep it like that you should've had more than 12 weapon levels. I was on the 12th stage, and my weapon was maxed before I was 1/4 of the way through the level. Speaking of the 12th stage, there should've been a more epic battle. I mean, 10 minutes of survival isn't tough, at all. The spawn level was tougher, and in my opinion was a more worthy level for the final boss. The arena was a good size... (m)
A serious problem with this game that I noticed... In the Ultimate Survival level (I'm not sure if it's in the other levels as well), the monsters adjust to what weapon you should have. Well that's all fine and good, but if you needed to buy health at any point during the game, you won't have enough cash to buy the next weapon right when you should have been able to. Because of that, you might be going through a level that you should've been going through with the mini-gun with the assault rifle. The step up in power is noticeable. The step up in difficulty is tremendous. Making the enemies appear faster and harder is fine, but at least compensate for the weapon we do have, not the weapon we should have. At least, that's what I've seen.
I just found a flaw. When you have exactly enough to buy something, it won't let you buy it. You have to have over the price of any item to be able to buy it. Now, that doesn't come up very often, but when it does it is extremely annoying. Though that's not the only thing you could fix with this game, it's all about the little things that make games like this more fun for everyone.
Five out of Five... Favored. I agree that this game reminds me of Sprout, but it has its own disturbing sense. I find it strange that the alien didn't eat the woman, or the dog. But other than that, I loved the entire game. Very well done. I'd love to see more!
Delvar - You don't jump up, you jump forwards. Get a low angle to the water, and appear to skip across the surface of the waves. And you shouldn't tailslide until you've Starslided at least three times.
The puzzle game was so obvious at points that I found myself subconsciously picking the right piece to move, and having everything fall into place. I realize this is supposed to be an easier version so that people will buy the game for some challenge, but damn... That was a bit too easy. That should be a 5pt. badge, not a 15pt.
Oh! I just thought of something! Just because you find an item on level 8, for instance, that doesn't mean it's a level 8 item. That's something (probably very time consuming) that might help a bit in the loot giving process.
Hats off to this one, Garin. Congrats on a great game. Well thought out, well executed. It's sequel time. Definitely. The only thing I can think of to improve is story -line... I don't know how, so sorry about that. Maybe side-quests? Side dungeons?
This game reminds me of another game so bad, I have to mention it. flOw. The concept of this game isn't to get to the final room and destroy the final boss, there should NOT be a badge for this game. The point is to eat and grow. The growth should be infinite, the bigger creatures than yourself should be infinite. I want to see a sequel. Until then, 4'd.
