I just played through the game with my SO watching. On a repeat playthrough, I noticed that the colour scheme of your player character and May matches the colour scheme of the girls in the Madoka Magica poster. I didn’t watch the anime myself, but my SO said that the premise of the anime was that the black girl can travel in time and was trying to find ways to save the pink girl who either dies or sacrifices herself in alternate timelines, which is exactly the same thing you are doing in the game if you think about it. Layers upon layers deep! This game is A+! :)
