you just cant sit down with a gemcraft game and think, i'll just give it half and hour, because at 4am you'll still be playing.
Though saying that after hours of trial and error i have discovered 4x towers with 2x amplifier make things almost too easy.
On the final boss he has almost no health, getting ready to kill him, he starts spouting some crap about how he is the master of the universe... Then suddenly a mammoth drops on his head.
Cant think of a more undignified way for Akron to have died.
I like it but do think the whole point of the original was you didn't stop.
Now i can continue running into an object and have a break in between like the 1st bonus lv i just did. It's fine when I have to jump through gaps and hitting a wall causes me to fall. But you shouldn't be able to complete a level having stopped to pause mid game.
There also seemed much more emphasis on twisting walls and changing of perspective in the original. In fairness it was this dynamic that made it such a great game. This has taken a back seat in the new game, in favour of jumping from one platform level to the next.
It's a different take on the original but i don't think it's better.
much preferred the original.
Really annoyed me also how by holding down space bar to get big enough jumps to hop over objects, it would then automatically jump you back in the air as soon as you touched anything.
Id remove that, jump only when i press the space button not because im holding it down to try and get the extra distance to make the jump in the 1st place.
I did enjoy the level where u have to jump through gaps, but yeah overall not a touch on the original. I gave that 5, giving this 3.
good but i cant give it 5. the 1st chapter was awesome. shame all the question options led to the same answer with the hatter too. still very enjoyable. 4/5
