Shows potential. But it's also quite bloated with many features either poorly explained (what's the use of some ressources? How do i progress layers? What do class levels do) or maybe introduced to early. If some of the stuff is of no use at this point in development it should be indicated so you don't wonder too much about them.
Resources are used to buy upgrades and creation upgrades. The purpose of levels and class levels is explained in the stat menu (spoiler: they give a stat bonus). You unlock more layers by buying more buildings. I've been complained at for spoiling things in the past, but if must know, the second layer is unlocked by buy 25 fishing piers.
Something to keep in mind for further development: speed scales way to good, to the point that killing turtles and ogres has the potential to halve your dps
