best way to win the cave of trials in all your army is lvl 5 with lvl 5 spells then in army have hero / mermaid / witch / succububus / bomber / black knight then for spells have healing / phoenix / thunderstrike / power spell
when you beat on the castle theres the rage waves once you get a good number of say 150 to 200 withdrawl army cast phoenix and power spell and phoenix will wipe everything out on map easily ( unless its a boss )
