I'll pretend to ignore the massive amount of lag caused by the insane amount of coins jumping everywhere on the screen. What really convinced me to rate this game 1/5 was the fact that this game doesn't keep track of your progress between sessions. I got to 1 million after over 45 minutes, then just when I was about to buy the final upgrade and nuke everything, my browser crashed. When I opened the game again it started from 200 coins and no upgrades or coworkers. Of course you will say "This game can be completed in just 10 minutes, so start it over, no big deal" but have you ever taken in consideration slow computers? I'm not going to spend almost a whole hour again just for an easy badge. Rating it 1/5 is going to be my only accomplishment here.
@ChrisJason: actually, it's possible to kill the dragon without using divine edge, if you can find and buy a golden ticket early and spend all the money you earn from it to upgrade weapon and armor as much as you can.
I'm sorry, but the forts invincibility basically ruined the game for me. If you gather a few money from the first two waves and then buy and build the first fort, by hiding in there at every next wave and repairing the balloon between waves you'll easily complete the game before wave XII. of course you can still decide to be a man, kill those monsters till the very end and upgrade weapons and everything, but considering that the final purpose of the game is to get out of there I would have rather liked to see a less overpowered fort. For example it could have been made so that even if you are inside the fort the flying monsters will still attack you, or your fort will get damaged as long as you are inside and eventually get destroyed. But as it is now? Sorry, I just don't like that choice. 3/5, would have rated 5/5 otherwise.
I enjoyed The Grey Rainbow when it first came out, so when I saw a new adventure by the same creators I played it right away. I haven't got disappointed, and now I can't wait for its sequel!
I really appreciate how you keep working on new updates for the game on a regular basis, whereas most games just stay untouched by their programmers once they publish them (even when there are some bugs). I already rated 5/5 and added Candle Man to my favorited games few days after it was first released, but now I applaud to this game even more.
I like the concept of this game, a bit different from the usual escape-the-room games. There is a big issue though when you try to use certain items on the right locations and they won't work until you click the exact spot (like when you have to use the closet key or when you are ready to shut the closet). Some improvement on that side would have made the game better.
Okay, this is awful... it took me a couple hours to get all the achievements and I especially had a hard time with the last ones, which is good after all, but then what happens? Since my I was disconnected from chat (because I needed it opened elsewhere) and I couldn't get the hard badge until I got connected to it again, I made sure my game progress was saved by exiting to main menu and clicking "Play" again. I still had all achievement. So I refreshed the page (because Kong was acting up and it was taking forever to connect to chat) and... the last three achievements are now gone and I need to get them again. Sorry but I'm not going to drive crazy again for this, so goodbye hard badge.
Just out curiosity, is the first character named Tom after two of Tiziano Sclavi's books, "Le etichette delle camicie" and "Non è successo niente"? Since he looks like Dylan Dog I guessed there could be a further reference to its creator ^^
@BLACKOLIVEGAMES: I had a strong feeling about the protagonist looking like Dylan Dog, then your response to another comment confirmed my guess :) Awesome reference!
One of the best videogames I've ever played story-wise, definitely worth a 5/5. At first I found the art style a bit unusual but then I realized it just added a magic atmosphere to the story, like a true dream. You sure you don't want to make another game like this in the future if not a sequel? Because we need more pearls like this ^^
I love how the screen at beginning (the one where you have to click "Play") says v2.0 BUG FIX version. It's not like bugs were really fixed, since many before me reported the game just freezes after chapter 7. How in the world did this game get a chance to host a Challenge on Kongregate? Oh well, at least we can still get all badges.
First time I play a game like this, might be frustrating at times (especially when losing for 4-5 levels in a row XD ) but really original and impressive.
Okay, here goes. Dylan Dog was named after Dylan Thomas, the poet... Well, so was Tom! Just look at the last name.
