Personal strats:
- The only guns worth upgrading/using are MAC10, then AK47. The rest are garbage.
- Machete and molotov are the best secondaries to upgrade and use. I stuck with grenade until molotov unlocked.
- For levels 1 through 14, prioritize upgrade points in gun first, then defense.
- At level 15 (final boss), you should have around 35 points (I finished at 38). Reset points and prioritize secondary, then defense. In secondary, max out Longer Lasting, Cooldown, and Double. In defense, put remaining points in Defense, HP Increase, and Regeneration only (Knockback and Thorns are useless).
- Last boss is basically survival mode where stall to use rocket launcher. Doubled knife slash will kill most zombies that reach your car. Spam molotovs to cover as much ground as possible as often as possible, esp where Hulk summons coffins. The defense tree upgrades will make you virtually unkillable if you keep up with spamming molotovs/knifing to clear the waves of zombies.
SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO ARE STUCK AT MAP: 97% // ITEMS 95%:
Final area must be revealed using Xray. Walk your character through the horizontal tunnel southernmost from your ship at start.
Amazing game. So far the best speedrun strat i've come up with is 4 Earth (negative effect immunity) + 2 Water (+50% intellect), Snipe Fortress Whirlwind. Key is to stack boosts in Intellect and Wisdom so you can spam Whirlwind and fly through levels instantly. Higher intellect = Whirlwind more often, essentially killing all enemies on screen instantly, while higher Wisdom = fewer battles that you need to win to move onto next area.
Nice! I rarely see Snipe mentioned and I did have a bit of trouble finding ways for it to stand out. Stacking Int is indeed one of the stronger late game strats and you found a really good combo for building that up :)
Pick greatsword. Prioritize all non-spell related upgrades in the mastery tree (upgrade red soul and experience in the tree first). For rings and bracelet, buy the 1500hp ring and the 2 best two regen bracelets (makes you unburstable and tanky) (Other rings are up to you). You're gonna need to do some farming to get the xp and souls needed to max out to make the final boss easy, so stand at an end of the map so that enemies don't spawn behind you. Face one direction and keep swinging. Periodically walk past enemies to collect blue and red drops. Drop a door to low hp to spawn enemies faster to boost drop rate. Rinse and repeat about 20 times to max out. Good luck!
WARNING: Unlike potions and spells, you CANNOT use the wings during combat. I thought otherwise and got killed at the last boss, losing my progress back to floor 9 :(
When you are level 1-5, take points in the mastery where the gem slowly recedes back to the cave. This is the best use of your points since you won't get far spending them elsewhere in the early levels, where the lack of masteries will make passing tough.
Always destroy parts of enemy bases until they have one turret left on each one, then destroy all of them as quickly in succession as possible. The enemy will be screwed.
Overall, melee weapons are best. Guns have too little ammo, and are much more varied than melee weapons. Upgrade strength. Bladed is better in the long run, but blunt is good for the beginning when it's too early to find the katana or axe.
After you go through "Over the Ashes" and unlock Zones 6 and 7, do they stay unlocked in new files even if you aren't doing heroic difficulty or avoiding training fights?
