I gave this game 4 stars, mostly because I feel it's at least a 3.5 as it is, but it shows a lot of promise. Arrows at the top of the screens you can go through (I got through the first level because I accidentally went through the top), mute buttons (not that I would use them just a nice general feature), a better way of handling larger asteroid mechanics so I'm not picking up the unbreakable asteroid instead of the matter I so desperately need (which is particularly frustrating when you can move the asteroid for only a split second, and you drag it over the matter) . This is an odd enough game that I would like to see more of it, and I hope one day it gets polished with the intent on idiots playing it =P
Doctor's Log 030912
The patients are at it again: the ravings of these three are wearing a little thin. They are once again talking about these "Netbots" and how i must connect them to save them from various hazards. These *Short* outbursts punctuate otherwise *Okay* behavior. It is difficult to tell where this behavior comes from, mostly stemming from the fact that their outbursts *Need Variance*, but also because of the aforementioned brevity. They are an odd puzzle, but I request no help from my colleagues, mostly because their *Hints Are Too Revealing*. Overall, I feel that they are between *3 and 4 /5*ths ready to return to normal life.
It took me exactly as long as it takes to get the "weekend" award to perfect this, and I finished it 3 days prior. I feel that the second spring probably the best upgrade (though buying magnets is my usual strategy with these things). still, a pretty tight game, and deserving of at least a 3, but I'm going to put 4, simply because it really only loses points for being too easy.
I have 162 flying, and 152 swimming. This game gets a 4/5 because of the sheer number of glitches it has, but it still has excellent game design, even if I dislike doing all the mini-games in rapid succession.
Without the ability to mark (or have the game auto mark) the map, I find I got lost a bit, and ended up losing interest by the end because there were 3 things I had to find, and the majority of my health upgrades didn't seem to take effect. 4/5 for a great game, but it loses that one point quite easily.
You know what I had trouble with? Hanging off a ledge. I could hold the down button for a year or a milisecond, but no matter what, when I move to go off the edge, I go off. another thing that bugged me was that one press of left or right did not dictate total commitment to that square, leaving me to feel out everything. Nice loderunner game.
Grah! I dislike how the sheep can go under the damage notifier, it's kind of disconcerting.
Also, there's no "end" to magma flats, so how do you complete it?
"Hey William look I can-"
"One sec'"
"No seriously, I can-"
"This book is really interesting"
"I'm telling you, if you ge-"
"Finally a day without rain."
I can see why a fox would be frustrated with such a guy.
These games are fun little platformers. Good job.
I can't really think of any problematic issues with it.
Cute. Most of my complaints come from how short the game is, because there really isn't enough grind time to get many of the achievements the first time. A few more power-ups, or several different pi(n~)atas would be awesome, but as it is now, this game is probably about a 3 point something, and I guess that gets it close enough to be a 4/5.
I'd really like to be able to check my achievements from the pause menu. I kept getting them, and kept wondering how many more to go. It's an interesting game -- it reminds me a lot of super crate box, but without a lot of the bells and whistles (despite having a higher resolution) -- and I like it as a little snack of a game. Good controls, good general design (love the enemies =D), but the difficulty could use a little work =P
Also, I kinda want a "random hero" button on the hero select screen, but that's more of a joke about the title.
I like this game, I just wish it wouldn't occasionally decide that I was moving in a direction whether I want to or not. Very fluid movement, very nice, and it's a kind of game that seems to be more of an ordeal that you take pleasure in beating instead of the kind of game that's fun all the way.
The biggest annoyance for me is the fact that if I try to use an item you have to research to use when I research it's basic reactions, I can't get any reactions other than neutral. This means I can't use bananas or duckies if I want new reactions, and it means I can't win. Really annoying.
I was trying to be nice, and then the church came to power.
FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU-
DON'T LET THE CHURCH GAIN POWER BECAUSE YOUR PEOPLE WILL JUST KILL THEMSELVES
Great game though. A little glitchy and the annoying out-come of the church (there are some dinosaurs that have lineages to this day, so we would be like the dinosaurs if we didn't commit suicide) are pretty much my only complaints. 5/5
I've seen a lot of complaints about the AI, and the best solution I can think of is to have the ability to set it between each attack a different one, and all get one (I don't know how much coding this would take so sorry if this is complicated). The default should be each one engages a separate one, and later on you can set it to all on one. The dev has stated it get's necessary later on for them to gang up, but if people are bitching about the early game so much that they don't make it there, then there is no point in having a feature that benefits late game. I don't mind the difficulty as much as many seem to. One thing I've found is that you have to grind in TDs like "Gem TD," and this is no exception. I believe this game warrants a 4/5 because of how much you have already said you are planning, and with just a few little tweaks would get it to an easy 5/5.
At first, I was skeptical about how much it reminded me of audiosurf, and then I actually played it, and it blew my mind. It is such a fast-paced game, and with the jumps and the spins, it is so awesome! Fluid game, the pilot cam is a really cool way to mix it up. This game is just so satisfying! 5/5!
