As far as idle games go, this is well done. However, I can't help but dislike it and the genre. When you don't put any time in and work for what you achieve, there is no sense of accomplishment other than staring at a screen. A Miley Cirus game or other garbage of its ilk as more intrinsic value than anything in this genre.
I'm not a fan of games where PvP is mandatory and there is no choice but to die when attacked by a more powerful player, because you can't outrun or outgun him. This is especially annoying when I at a healing station. I saw you plan on adding safety zones, maybe. Good luck with that, I'm done here.
It's really obnoxious that the game continues to insist it wants unlimited space for storage. I don't give ANY game unlimited space, 10mb should more than enough.
Why does virtually every developer today think that all gamers are idiots and MAKE us go through the tutorial? Some of us actually enjoy using our brains and figuring things out. Your lack of respect for us and our intelligence is insulting.
I actually disliked the 'progressive' quests, or maybe more appropriate named random quests, quite a bit. Largely because they were poorly implemented. It's pretty ridiculous that my launcher is at say level 16 and the quest is "Launch a perfect spin on a Level 5 launcher or higher". Yeah, did that about 20 times since I was at level 5.
You allow new players to skip the tutorial = good (doesn't happen often enough in my opinion). However, once I skipped the tutorial, the text that told I skipped the tutorial wouldn't go away without reloading the game = annoying bug.
After attempting to remove that, I gave up and checked out some of the other screens - the first title that shows on reputation is how much Dragon Gold I've bought? Yeah, no. That says to me you care about money more than actual gameplay. Then Farmer Ham quest is to add a bookmark? Stupid, stupid, stupid. That has nothing to do with the story or gameplay of the game. I hate games that make you jump through stupid hoops. You're just trying stupid little marketing tricks to convince people that your crap is the best.
Try making an awesome game, then you won't need stupid tricks like the above
I like the concept, however I didn't enjoy the game play. I know part of that is I'm not a big fan of platformers, so take that with a grain of salt. However, as a half-in/half-out kind of person with platformers, one of the things that turns me off is when it FEELS like nearly every jump needs to be perfect, or close to it. In this case, the height that William jumps up near the end of any given level always felt like if I didn't get it right I'd get hit by red.
tl;dr I think you turn off casual platformers when the tolerances are too tight. Just my two cents.
After all that is said, keep up the experimentation. It's great to see a developer actively talking to the players!
From feedback I've had (mostly outside Kongregate actually) - the platforming is a little too harsh, so you're right there. Though, as pointed out in a comment above (and elsewhere) - the collision detection & general controls are fairly stiff and actually quite annoying - I'll be the first to agree with that - so that probably makes the whole ordeal a lot harder than it should be. Still, that's not an excuse: but it's good to see that feedback is generally echoing eachother so I know what to work on when I do a platformer again. Thank you for playing and taking the time to comment! :)
This game needs a lot before it becomes interesting. There is no sense of danger. None of the creatures attack first. It is a rather tame and boring game.
Yeah, we get it. Don't cheat/steal/etc. Try toning down the preaching, yes? Most people don't cheat, nor do they need CONSTANT reminders on every screen that cheating is bad for both the cheater and the cheatee.
Sorry, 2/5. The glitches were annoying, to say the least. If I have to keep playing a level again because I screwed up, or didn't figure it out the first 5 times, that's fine. If I have to keep playing the level b/c of bugs in the game keep screwing up what I'm doing and killing my guy, that's not fine.
I saw glitches on several levels (especially passing through the floor of the lift), but level 16 is the one I quit on. I tried at least 7 times, but the lift increased acceleration speed dramatically a couple times. In addition, my previous self would make semi-random changes to his past movements that always got him killed.
Got trolled by a video game. Wasted 15 minutes of my life on a mediocre (at best) launching game just to buy the "secret" toilet paper that doesn't even have any use at all. Laaaaaammmme.
