Hey, it's been 13 years, but I've rebooted Edmus! Check it out on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/edmus/id1663486756
And on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Pouchmouse.Edmus
Hi everyone!
I've started receiving bug reports that Edmus is no longer working, and my first thought was "My god, people are still playing Edmus?!" It's been almost exactly seven years now, and I'm really honored that a simple flash game managed to live that long. Especially since Flash itself was supposed to be dead by now!
Here are some quick thoughts: If people love it this much, I'll bring it back. But not as Flash; it'll be HTML5 or WebGL when I reincarnate it.
It might be a few months before I have time to re-create it properly, though. I'm currently working on a very different game - one that's been actively leaking all over the internet for the past several days. =)
Hello everyone, I've uploaded a new version that fixes the bug where restocking cost more than it should. Also! A fix for the strange Schrödinger-esque problem where the cost of your allies' games changed each time you observed them. =)
Bug fixes! My apologies to everyone who's found the errors in the later objectives. The objective of traveling 8000km without Heavy, Scout, or Support ships was from an earlier build (where there was another ship type). The task of getting 200 critical hits wasn't supposed to be accomplished in a single game (I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be possible), and the challenge to use the Forgiveness Laser on 200 enemies was meant to include any kills made by your allies. (This requires some coordination between you and your allies... look for an enemy who repeatedly spawns a lot of little minions.)
New Update! You may now press the spacebar to quickly start a new game. Also, an objective to reach a given height will automatically be complete if your highscore is already above that height.
Greetings folks, I've just released an update. It features...
New Words! This includes an embarrassing oversight. 'Canada' wasn't in the game's dictionary. It is now, though. Sorry Canadians!
Bug Fixes! The game won't slow down and crash when you build ridiculously tall towers. At least, it didn't when I tried it.
New features! You can now end a game early. Look for the button in the lower left corner.
Old features! People have been asking for a way to quickly scroll through old words, or clear out the current word. You can do this with the arrow keys -- press up to go through past words, and down to go back or clear the current word entirely.
Thank you for all the five star reviews!
Hello Everyone- I've just uploaded a new word-based puzzle game: http://www.kongregate.com/games/pouchmouse/proke
It's pretty different from Edmus -- I wanted to explore a new idea. Feel free to check it out; I appreciate your guys' ratings and feedback.
Sorry for the down-time everyone. I just finished doing emergency surgery on the player database. A couple of queries for player information had gotten stuck in an infinite loop and were hogging all the system resources. This was causing the game to stall while downloading other people's runs.
Everything looks like it's back to normal now. =)
For those who are curious about whether the game features bots, I can assure you it doesn't.
A good way to check this is to go to the 'Hall of Fame' and watch the best plays from today's game. You can see the people on Kongregate's official leaderboard for today are, in fact, also the ones who make it further than everyone else in the game. For instance, when I left this comment Georgie_Leech had a leaderboard score of 255,917, and in the Hall of Fame you can watch him run 2,559 meters.
It's been pointed out that disconnecting your computer from the network doesn't prevent the game from displaying other players. That because the game fetches a batch of other people's runs during the preloader. Then, if it can't fetch any more, it simply continues to display those.
