omg900 - Sell fighter bay at start. Early on put all your resources into your big gun (mostly damage, some on fire rate). Maybe 1-2 flak turrets at most. With a little luck, you can get past the first encounter with three big ships, and you can start to invest in repair drones. After the snake ship, work on getting a fleet of 8-12 fighters, no upgrades needed. Then fill out turrets, repairs, big gun as desired.

SpaceFighter - any tips on beating the game on easy without firing the main gun? I haven't been able to get past the point when the three capital ships show up. Starting with flak turrets, adding rockets later, repairs as needed, and have experimented with adding an extra fighter or using no fighter, but still no luck.

If you've beat the game and are looking for a challenge, try playing with a minimum of upgrading on the main gun. On easy difficulty I've completed the game without putting a single upgrade on the big gun, it's not actually too hard. On normal difficulty, I've gotten through with upgrading the big gun to level 2 damage and fire rate. Give it a try.

Looking forward to full version. Wishlist: (1) Liked the pictorial list of targets a unit was good/bad against in the build menu; wished there were a way to get to that info for an existing unit while selected (2) A button to skip dialogue on the main game screen - I realize it's in the options, but if you replay scenario without remembering to change options, it's annoying to sit through it again.

For norman_rorqual : the answer to your problem is more fighters. I recommend having as many fighters as possible (at the expense of fighter upgrades) by those last couple of chapters. Fighters get in the way early (sell the fighter bay at the start), but after beating the snake ship here's what I do. Buy a fighter bay, upgrade for an 1 additional ship; repeat until you have four fighter bays. As conditions allow, start upgrading each fighter bay to max ships, 1-2 upgrades on build rate, and 1-2 upgrades on fighter HP. By the time you reach chapter 8, your fleet of quickly regenerating fighters will take most of those bullets for you.
