The momentum loops were often frustratingly difficult to pull off due to the tiny portal size (even though I "stopped fidgeting" as the game suggested). This took all of the fun out of parts of the game that were SUPPOSED to be fun (like that "bounce bounce" part). It was sometimes hard to get the pigs through the portals when you wanted them to. The messages on the boards and the music gave the game an overall friendly tone, which isn't bad, but didn't make me feel like i was trying to "escape" at all. Also, the ending was very abrupt... just as the pigs are introduced and things look like they might get more interesting. The physics and graphics are smooth enough, but the rest is a bit lacking. A good start, but doesn't really feel like a full game (even judging by flash game standards).
Things in this game that remind me of Paper Mario:
-the perspective changing feature (although this is an interesting take on it)
-the stars
-jumping on enemies
-the music (especially the night theme!)
That said, this is a lovely game in its own right. My only complaint is that the fireballs are IMPOSSIBLE to jump over (though that is most likely on purpose).
It's very cute and humorous, BUT there are some definite problems with this game. The game lags regardless of the quality setting (it is just playable on the lowest quality on my computer). Sometimes, after the robot arm places your monkey, it will stay onscreen and block your view of the puzzles. Also, some of the harder puzzles simply consist of clicking wildly and hoping that you can glitch through (although you end up dying from said glitches more often). These make the game more frustrating than fun, which is sad, because I know it would be good if not for these faults.
Sometimes, when enemies appear, I try to get a headshot in quickly so they don't have time to shoot me, and move on to the next... but the game doesn't register that the enemy has taken damage. Sometimes it happens twice in a row. Then I have to go back and shoot at 'em again. It's very annoying, especially when you're shooting at a big mob, and they're killing you. :/
Loved the music, story, gameplay, graphics, and kuriiri. In other words, I loved everything (except fighting the last boss on my not-always-responsive computer x.x; ).
I've modified the options menu so there is a new setting for disabling particles. See if that helps. The final boss uses a lot of particles so that is probably why the final boss fight slows everybody down.
I like this game, it feels unique. The jump/tackle, invisibility, and need to stay on an enemy until you kill it make it interesting. Not to mention the storytelling. Great job. The ending was sad, but I look forward to the sequel.
Would've been much better with just a liiitle bit more story, I think. Perhaps at the end. The creepy atmosphere in this game, with the people in cages and the dark environment etc., really has some potential, but you do very little with it. Other than that, it seemed well made and it was fun to play.
The humor in this game was great, I loved the sound he made when he fell to his death. xP
The part where the bat dude chases you always freaks me out, though. D:
This game is like if Kirby and Klonoa had a baby.
Seriously, so much of it reminds me of Klonoa. The look of the tower, the name of the game, the music, the cute blue creature, the collectible gems and rings, the reference to the "dark kingdom" at the end... not to mention all of the enemies (and the way that they have variations of themselves) looked like they could've come straight from Klonoa. The helmeted monster that takes two hits, the jumping joker (reminds me so much of Joka or whoever), the fire-breathing thing... but most of all, the way the 2d sprites of the enemies moved when going around the curves of the 3d environment.
It was a really cute game despite that, and I enjoyed playing it. I want to take the little blue squirrel home. ;-;
The humor was sometimes a little more vulgar than I would like, but otherwise it was very enjoyable. My favorite level was the office level; It sort of reminds me of Super Paper Mario, which I guess I must like since I liked that level? It would be nice if missed pink doors were unlocked automatically if you completed the level they were from; I did a replay to get the worst ending (got the best ending on my first playthrough, haha) and sped through it, and ended up missing all of the doors, so I can't go back and replay those levels. :/
Otherwise very enjoyable. The best endings were the best and worst ones. XD
