The objective of purchase any 3 upgrades comes way before you have the funds for even 2 of them. This leads to a long period of time where you are just waiting for money to build up. Breaks the pace of the game completely even on the fastest speed. Also the reward is only 750 gold. The 2nd upgrade alone costs 20 times that.
