Also, it doesn't seem to be the detection, but the order in which you remove and the direction you move the blocks that matters
Game is a crapshoot. Can twist and pull apart the blocks perfectly and still not get them to disappear. The detection system is flawed.

Not worth the badge; as others have said, the game requires too much perfection and precision. Almost impossible on a laptop, incredibly difficult even with a mouse.
